Im amazed at the performance in Doom in vulcan mode at ultra settings and 2560x1440, not a bad card for the money.

Idk why more games aren't made with vulcan all the games made in dx12 run like poo in comparison.

Probably lacking people with the skills to code with it. Directx has been the standard for a long time now

The Asus Dual card I would say is an OK card, the cooler is average but the quality is good as with all things Asus they generally do not put their name to junk not even on their value stuff so it is reliable, 3yr warranty with OcUK anyway.
The only complaint we really see with the Dual is in some smaller enclosures it can be noisy but this can also be cured with a fan profile in wattman or just under-volting the card.

Its an OK card, but at the current prices its a bloody steal!

ID probably has the best game coders in the world which is why there able to pull it off. Everyone else is still playing catch up.

Yes that is a good point. It seems Microsoft laid off everyone good at anything. All there software is poo, so I'm not surprised their api is inferior even though so many devs use it because it's been common. Dx11 was better

Looks like im getting a RX480 8Gb OC Asus Card as a replacement as they cant fix my Sapphire 290X Vapor-X , keeps or shall i flog it to get something else ?

In my opinion, the 8gb 480 is a keeper. Especially as you're getting an 'old for new' RMA replacement. I just upgraded from a Vapor-X 7950 to an 8gb 480 Nitro+ OC and it is the 2nd best (performance) upgrade I've everdone (1st being E8600 to i5 2400S). It's got a lot of grunt for a mid range card and only requires one 8-pin PCI-e connector.

LOL in that case it's nowhere near as good as a vapour x. That is a top end sapphire cooler that even makes then strix cooler look bad. Tbh I would say I wanted a strix. If it had been a 290 tri x fair enough but you are getting a bottom model for as a replacement for a top one.

How do you redeem the copy of Doom? I bought the Asus dual 8gb version but can't see a voucher anywhere... I've installed the validation software but it says my system doesn't qualify

all, I need some advice

I have got on order 2 x Asus RX480s Dual OC's to put in crossfire from ocuk.

The order is still in process and will stay like that until end of next week (week of the 12th March 17) as I have got an AM4 motherboard on pre-order.

I've seen reviews that these Asus's Dual OC's editions are loud? - will be even louder shoved next to each-other in crossfire
AMD's RX 580s will be coming out April, then VEGA in May, should I wait for these if I want similar performance?

Now was this a good idea to order these? I only ordered them because they were amazing value, they essentially cost me £150 each (yes 4gb versions) so £300 in total for performance to sit maybe 10fps below a 1080? (i think...)

The reason why i'm checking is because I can still cancel and order a different graphics card later on such as an rx580...I don't mind waiting, but maybe I have struck a deal with the Dual OC's.

Setup that is coming is 100hz 3440x1440 resolution
Ryzen 1700x, 370x mobo
16gb ram
750 gold seasonic psu
air cooled noctoa

Personally I'd always go single card over SLI/Crossfire.

Even so. Extra heat, power consumption, not 200% performance, noise.

I'd wait till next gen ATI's if you're looking for faster than single 480 performance.
