The Police Application Thread

Still waiting to hear back regarding my fitness.

I'm guessing it'll be after Christmas now, but I passed the assessment centre in October.

In fact, I originally submitted my application form in December 2008!! :eek:

I had to wait 2 weeks for a letter confirming that I passed the assessment centre.

In that letter it says that they will write to me regarding the dates for the next stages (fitness and medical) "as per force requirements".

I'm taking that to mean "in due course", but waiting around is annoying :(

Also can you share some details on the process of it all and pay.. like do you get paid for training etc..

Take a gap year. TBH, if you are still at the stages of enquiring about pay etc, there's a LOT more research you can do just by looking at policecouldyou.co.uk. Honestly, before you apply for this job, look through ukpolice.com and ukpoliceonline.co.uk - start with those forums and look through as much as you can.

If it hasn't been answered on either of them, it's probably not worth knowing ;).

Over the past 2 years i must have spent 100's of hours on those to websites looking through stuff and learning about the Police.
 
Anybody here currently doing/planning to do a degree in Police Studies?

I've applied for a uni which does the course and plan to complete that before attempting to progress further.. atm doing a ND in Uniformd Public Services. ;)

As far as I'm aware in the 2nd year It's mandantory to either become a special or PCSO. Looking forward to it ;)
 
What an awesome thread! cant beleive i hadnt ever seen it before :O

Im wanting to apply to be a special with kent police, i understand opening for specials is until december this year, does anyone know if kent or thames valley will have any recruitemt drives forthe regulars before this december deadline?

A visit to their website usually indicates if they are recruiting or not.
