Just to keep people updated, I did holds and pain compliance today. God I hurt.
Yeah I ached for days after that. My wrists were knackered.
I've done quite a few duties now, and I've got to say I'm loving it .

I have been looking into the special constable positions also, would a very successful special constable have a decent chance of becoming a paid officer eventually? Seems like fantastic experience anyway.
Hi Ned,
What are your thoughts so far?
I was dreading this thread resurfacing. Just to add my story...
Passed PIRT
Passed Assessment Centre
Passed Medical
Passed Fitness
Passed Drugs Test
Passed Induction coursework (4 week course)
Failed Vetting
When asked why, they wouldn't say because of Data Protection
I wrote an appeal letter as I meet the home office recruitment criteria - no criminal record, no debt, no family history etc. Nothing.
Anyway, they responded a week later saying they cannot disclose the reasons and they "consider this the final correspondence". Oh and I am not eligible to reapply. Ever.
Now, my grandfather served in the SAS, which I didn't declare but that's the only thing I didn't declare on the security vetting form. Why bother? He doesn't live with us anymore.
Seriously messed up

That is a bit bizarre. Surely they must be able to tell due, ironically, due to the DPA?
It's great . It's giving me a great insight into being a police officer full time, and I'm learning new things and meeting new people every day. It is definitely one of the best things I've ever done.
Bit of an udpate as to where I am for you;
Although being fully accepted into the West Mercia Police Force in November 2008, we have all been told that there is now another step as due to cut backs etc they have too many recruits and need to whittle some down. Which I'm not too happy about really - bloody Government.
So, I was due for my interview at the end of April and if I got through I was due to start within the next year (only 45 people admitted this year, not even enough to cover leavers!).
Unfortunately, my application is now onhold, as I ruptured my ACL two weeks back, so I'm in no position to be able to join in my current state. I have to phone back in Autumn to arrange an interview.
feels like it's never going to happen now. Bit narked if I'm honest!
However, if you were rejected because your uncle was Osama Bin Laden or something, then they wouldn't be able to tell you.
Not something I'm going to post on a public forum, but feel free to email/msn.
