Found this in my collection last night, I am quite happy with the outcome. Only light was from my monitor and amazed the cat stayed still long enough to get a usable image!

...is it just me or is that photoshopped really badly?

no need to be rude.

to shoot like that into strong sun and get a good exposure on the subject one would need some serious strobe power. Its either a chop or an attempt at rescuing a serious under exposure of the subject. Given the ramp my guess is the latter.

Thanks for the support...but he is right, I did mess around with a lot of stuff in photoshop, altered, added and removed stuff, as the original was a very poor image and I know it's completely overcooked and the the main character is pretty poorly cut out to alter him, but hey, it's a learning curve. The essense of the photo is exactly the same positionally. I did a lot of it because I knew he'd like the over saturated colours and the way it pops, but whatever.

Still, I thought it was kinda fun so posted it up anyway.

fair play, but it still didnt need a rude response. no need for rudeness in life, does no-one any good.

another more careful look and yes is obviously a chop, but hey, thats how people learn.

Cheers Raymond. Compliments passed on.

Lighting...

Yn560 main light through shoot-through brolleybox camera left. Yn460 reflective umbrella just behind parallel right of model half a stop lower or so, plus a flash on the background. F9 1/160 from memory, tamron 17-50.

There are a couple of colour versions on my Flickr.

Cheers

Heh, flickr could do with more rudeness, it should help educate and save some overinflated egos.

Great picture of your wife by the way (1 isn't loading), love the shot and the processing is spot on.

Ignore the naffness of the images, was just testing a new lens that cost me all of £12 :p

Good effort for 12 quid. cant complain to that at all. Quite like the picture of the Starling? in the second photo although a touch over exposed. what focal length you got for that shot. loooks pretty sharp on the body of the bird. :)
