Must have taken about 70/80 pictures on our trip to Edinburgh and out of them there's only about 5/6 I'm happy with. Needs more practice I think:

Edited to added a couple of more pictures. :D

@mrk - I'm perhaps being a bit harsh with my choice and I'm using Lightroom to process though I'm still learning my way around it.

@Phal - I like your Lighthouse picture too, it looks really good.

5-6 out of 70-80? Your ratio doesn't seem off for the average love/hate ratio :D

What are you using to process? Processing is the 2nd part to getting the ratio higher :)

Yeah processing definitely goes a long way to making more pics keepers! The more I look at my lighthouse there the more I like it like that hehe :) The original was definitely not a keeper to begin with!

Wooohooo go Lighthouse :E

CTRL+' = Create a copy, then process it a different way and flick through each copy/process and marvel at each one :D

I do love Lightroom :)

I tend to just work on the file itself as you can reset all the effects with a single click anyway. I'm just starting to play around with Photoshop as well now but there's too many buttons in that lol

Nice :)

I think there's a bit too much open space on the right however!

Edit*
SteveOBHave, that reminds me of this!

Nice bridge :) I like the weird shadow under it. The blank area on the right does seem a little odd though!

Here is some swirly swirl watery stuff :)

Yeah it's always tough to know where to crop to. I can see there's that cloud/light pattern in the sky that I might want to keep there and the city lights get nice and bright there.

I tried to do some ghetto crops on it (dragging the window down to the bottom right of my monitor lol) and it does seem to look best the way it is... Weird

From the Rollei test roll. Nothing amazing since I just wanted to see if the camera was working fine:

Can't wait to get my Richard Avedon on and do a shoot with it!

Some of you may have seen my separate thread asking for advice on my first DSLR. Well, I got one and these are the first attempts. Obviously these are best of the bunch but I've really enjoyed experimenting.

Interested to hear some thoughts and feedback, they were all taken with the 50mm f1.8 on a 600D. The initial thing that jumps out to me is that the 'in focus' pepsi can seems a little soft?

Took this out the back of my house late this afternoon
Black magic applied in Lightroom
Exif should be there i think lol

If you do this at night you'll not get the blue termination tinge (terminator is the edge of the light to dark). Use a tripod, take a set of image (say 10) then stack them to remove the noise.

Is this a preset Seraph?

Nope, I don't do presets just yet, just faff with sliders until it looks right (imo lol)

Ahhh, I've always tried taking moon shots at night, but for the most part I just get a blob of bright light or something so underexposed it can't be saved haha I've never really looked at the idea of stacking pictures very much, but thanks for the tip, off to google we go hehe :D
