The Predator (2018)

Imagine if they took and mixed dna from the wrong person and we end up with a kevin james hybrid predator - now thats fear.

Anyway, will see this but the trailer looked like another generic action flick and nothing to be really excited about, the whole mixing dna thing is unnecessary.

I like most of Shane Blacks work, but hated Iron Man 3, I actually think it's the worst film by far in the MCU but this has a mainly decent cast so hopefully we get a solid film.

the "conflict" would mean that trained warriors are around and therefore pose a challenge for them, but an all-out war would probably make it hard for them to find a decent one-on-one type scenario, which is what the Pred's hunting code was all about, not jumping into a full-on battle like a mad bugger ~ in that case, trying themselves out against baddass terrorists/rebels etc would be logical. if they've been coming here for years they'll know the best spots and probably know the odds of finding said rebels, or US troops who are probably in those areas a lot, if other movies are to be believed :-D
i guess Hopper just had some bad luck.

not sure of the point of the DNA anyway - if the inference is they've hunted successfully on those worlds,t hen it would seem to indicate that they are therefore better than that world's inhabitants, therefore what benefits would the DNA offer? Humans for example - what one Earth [ha ha] would be the point of "upgrading" w/ out DNA? They're bigger, faster, more agile, way stronger, and probably far more intelligent, given their tech levels. they should be upgrading US, so the next time they come, it's more sport.

It never made sense anyway really.

If they wanted to test themselves against decent prey, why bother cloaking and killing everything with a shoulder canon from the trees?
so added to all your other dislikes i can only assume you're on this thread simply to be a troll to those who like the creature, or any of the films.

Thats how they hunt, it's only when they're down to the last "man" left who has no weapons that they go hand to hand. Until that point, all weapons are allowed.

I still think they should follow the story from the AVP book, Hunters Planet. With the Preds coming to a planet to hunt the local game for sport and releasing a few aliens, unaware there are Humans there now. Could end up a bit Jurassic Park-esque. Fun for all the family!

I think they've burnt the franchise so much by allowing the sub-par AvP1/2 to exist that there won't be another one.

For me the ideal time to make an AvP movie was in the late 80's shortly after Aliens was released while both Franchises were at their peak as the very rapid decline of each franchise after their "OK at best" releases in the early 90's (Alien 3 & Predator 2) has made it almost impossible for a "good" AvP movie to exist because the money/desire just isn't there from the Studios and when the studios finally did decide to give it a bash they picked, for the first movie, a director who openly said on camera that he didn't like the Predator movie/lore and only wanted to make a Alien movie (info taken from "Making of AvP" Documentary) and letting someone that "biased" take control was an incredibly stupid decision by the studios which stopped the AvP "hype-train" almost immediately.

The main protagonist in AVP1 and her story arc is very similar to Hunters Planet. The original concept may well have been a movie version of the graphic novel but maybe budget limitations meant they shoe horned the story into earth?

It's like Alien Resurrection is mostly a rip off of an Alien graphic novel but I forget which - Outbreak maybe? It's only just different enough to accommodate the events of Alien 3.

indeed, but why would they be fighting. And why do Hollywood feel the need to make everything bigger and better? THe Predator is already more advanced, stronger and deadlier. They don't need to add anything.

Supposedly some of the predators are aligned with the military in this, no idea if that's true or not but seems to be in that clip with one pulling the other away from a human its about to kill.

In the first Trailer it is mentioned that the Predators are "hybridising" with the dominant lifeforms on each new planet they arrive on, so the idea for this film is that Predators and Humans have been mixed to make a "super-predator" which is more interested in fighting other Predators than us, hence chucking the "hero" out of the way so that it can attack the older Predator - doesn't sound like a well thought-out idea to me.

What a stupid premise, it makes no thematic sense.
