The Q6600 GO Stepping has arrived at OcUK!!

grats on the clock, but isnt it all rather dependant on pot luck as well? you may have a great b3 but get a crap G0 and not be able to go as far.

whatever floats your boat really, im going from e6300 to Q6600 so the difference is going to be something special :)

Hi there

Whats the general favourite motherboard for pairing with these GO CPU's? I am assuming one of the Gigabytes?

Abit P35 Pro seems to be the choice for the overclocker that want nice high clocks.

Nothing but praise for this mobo.

I should know...I have one.

HI there

I do like the looks of the Abit IP35 Pro. :)

Also the Freezer 7 Pro, is that capable of cooling an overclocked GO CPU?

The Freezer 7 Pro is an ok cooler for the price but nothging speical IMO.

Pair it with the Tuniq Tower. Fantastic cooler.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)

Fantastic bundle.

overpriced for what it is imo

That depends... if you use water the price becomes reasonable... a water bock will cost you £25 and thats just for the NB the Blitz solution covers all the chipset and seems to work well, so...

£170 for board - £25 for water block makes the board £145 and for the features thats comparable to the others in the sector. The fact that it seems to be a premium clocker add weight :)

I agree though, if your not goign to use the water block, its better to go for another board.

Gibbo your having laugh m8, the Freezer 7 Pro is barely able to cool a Core2 Duo let alone a Quad! :D

Grab one of the Thermalright Ultra-120 Xtremes from the warehouse :)

HI there

I thought as much. :)

Problem with the Tuniq Tower 120 is they don't fit in all cases, how about the Zalman 9700? Yes the Thermalright is amazing bit of kit but I think we've run out of stock, I shall slap my purchaser.

Hi there

I was thinking:-

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Zalman 9700 Copper CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 2GB Memory Kit

Then say discount the whole bundle by about £40-£50. :)

Its just the cooler that is causing issues, for outright performance Tuniq Tower all the way, but its too big and as such won't fit in a lot of cases. Hence why I am now considering the Zalman 9700. :)

Ohhh I dunno if they will go for it, the rest of the bundle is juicy, hmm perhaps just leave it as the included stock HSF and let people supply their own cooling?

Unless u have a bucket load of Zalman coolers to unload! :o :D

Agreed. Although if the price would be the same either way i dont see it being a problem

I have a Zalman 9700 and its also huge... does not fit all cases its so wide. the Tower is tall, and wide - i.e. cant get it in a V1000 etc.

I would say go for the Thermalright SI-128 as a good HS because the fan is on top its far more likley to fit almost any case. Excelent perfomance too because it helps cool the Mofsets etc.

or the Noctua NHU12F i got one a while ago... very nice cooler !!

ps.. i find it funny how the OCuk people who work with this everyday come to the forum for advice :)
