Looking at all the new GPU talk I'm happier now sitting on my 5700XT. It's enough performance for now at 1440p and I'm curious to see what the following generation brings, especially if it we have a third player by then.
Thinking the same. I had a bit of initial remorse, as I upgraded my Ref to a Nitro+ last month. But... I ran the Ref card underclocked and undervolted for months, to quieten the blower. And performance was more than adequate for what I want. Really, the only thing tempting me toward the 3070 or 3080 is RTX.
The 3070 is definitely going to be faster. Who knows about the 3060 but I'd imagine it will just pip the 5700xt too.Bought my B Grade Nitro+ SE fairly recently and the 3070 annoucment did make me question whether I made the best decision however I got it for £350 which is still £100-£150 cheaper than what the 3070 will retail at.
PLUS we still don't have benchmarks yet! If the benchmarks show that the 3070 (or even the 3060) actively competes with the 5700XT than someone may find mine on MM.
It's a lovely GPU isn't it, the +Nitro SE.Bought my B Grade Nitro+ SE fairly recently and the 3070 annoucment did make me question whether I made the best decision however I got it for £350 which is still £100-£150 cheaper than what the 3070 will retail at.

HiJust noticed this it rarely happens but sometimes when I boot up I notice when GPU is idle the mhz is really low but if i restart it will go back to 800mhz idle most of the time it boots up and its 800mhz but rare times its not
I have the Sapphire NITRO+ RX 5700 XT SE
If I start gaming it will crash the overclock I applied
Most of the time it starts like this and runs fine with Overclock
Just wondering if anyone else came across this and what idle do most have ?
Thanks
AND you actually have it in your hands playing games, no one has the 3070... mate, there's always something around the corner... sit back and enjoy the fun... see what happens with this next gen! I added Liquid Metal to mine as there was a 25c delta between the temps at stock with the power limit maxed out.
No worries here, purchased via the rain forest Lol.Welcome to No Warranty Land!!!!
Hi
Did you ever figure out what was causing this as I'm seeing the same? I know others have said it's normal but I notice a performance decrease in games (mainly emulators) when it does go lower than 800mhz. In game mine clocks down as 150mhz which causes slight stutter. If I reboot and the GPU is at 800mhz it only goes that low in game and it plays smoothly.
I'm on the latest 20.8.3. I don't remember other drivers I've tried doing this.
Hi, I never figured it out mine used to crash while gaming untill I set 0.800 v at its lowest , but I have noticed I get lower benchmarks when it starts lower then 800mhz idle I just restart the computer after first boot to have it start at 800mhz idle and better performance
It seems from cold boot it starts with the low mhz idle , Are you using the same card ? 5700XT Sapphire Nitro+ SE it also happened on the older drivers well past couple drivers
Thanks
Thanks uscool
I'm running an Asus reference 570XT so different card but think I might have solved it hopefully. I have put a slight underclock in the tuning part of the radeon software of 1905mhz @ 1016v and now it is defaulting to 795mhz as the lowest it goes. I've rebooted and it seems to have stuck so fingers crossed. The problem I had before with older drivers was wattman not saving the tuning config and reverting back to defaults after a few reboots.
I spoke too soon. I've just booted it up from cold tonight and the gpu clock was low again, like 6mhz on the desktop. Rebooted and it has stayed at 800mhz. So it behaving exactly the same as yours, guess its a driver bug.so can rule out something to do with sapphire card , that voltage is low should get some great temps with that, I have mine 2100mhz with 1185v , 1850 memory, mine happens when I cold boot but if keep reporting it doesnt happen

I dont really notice a difference with PC gaming as they are more demanding and the clocks go higher. It's with retro gaming and emulators I notice as the clocks go very low as they use less resources but it intoduces stutter. I agree though quite annoying. A reboot fixes it but it is just a pain.I only bought mine month ago so not sure if it happened in the earlier drivers , it is annoying
