The Radeon RX 6800 (XT) Owners Thread.

No just Destiny Spiderman runs great, had another issue no video will play now just locks up pc and this is only after the 6800xt, had a 1080ti for years and no issues, my cpu is a 3700x on an Asus x570 tuf motherboard, any ideas?

If I remember correctly some people have found issues with the 6800xt not managing its frequency correctly, you could try 3 options.
1) Go into the AMD software and select the game profile for destiny 2, set Radeon chill to have the min and max fps that you want.
2) Go into the AMD software and select the game profile for destiny 2, and set the min frequency to a higher amount
3) Try 1 and 2 together

Picked up a Nitro+ for £400. Listed as parts/not working but seller had it pass Heaven, Furmark etc just wasn't sure if it would game. Card was in good nick, I can tell from caked dust on inside of fans its definitely been run a bit.

I noticed hotspot was terrible occasionally bouncing off 115 degree's after some light benching with firestrike and portroyal but it would pass the 'stress tests' just throttle itself. Used a little Aeronaut or Hydronaut, whichever I had laying round. Mount looked fine from factory, just one corner seemed to be naked. Screwed it back together and now it'll power limit before hotspot temp passes 90.

Had some fun benching whilst crossing fingers for my 650W Seasonic but didn't seem to trip anything.

Playing with clocks looks like voltage slider acts like an offset it can choose to ignore and there are set voltage ranges for particular clocks? If I run clock over 2300max 2200min it'll ignore the 1.0v limit I set and occasionally hit 1080mv, but with some tuning for Assetto Corsa Competizione found I can run it at 2255/2155 with the voltage 1.000v and it runs between 875mv and 975mv or thereabouts for 150-180W pushing maxed settings at 100-165fps (3800xt bottlenecks at start of races).

I can feel the urge to MPT, must have a read back through. Hoping I can unlock memory beyond 2150.

Anyone noticed on latest drivers a bit of instability. Youtube black screen then recovers after a minute with driver timeout. Same just pottering around desktop. Not happened in games though and this is on a fresh windows 10 install

Yep, had that issue with Y/T with version 22.10.1, rolled back to 22.5.1 and all is good again, and all games ran fine with no problems, just a coupla things when using Y/T

I've had it with my 6950 which has been crashing the full PC following a freeze into a restart, bit of a nightmare. I've stuck a TDR delay into the registry and it's stopped the crash for now at least. I still see the point where it thinks about freezing/crashing while browsing the web etc at some point during the course of the day but it no longer reboots thankfully.

Hilariously enough the card is and has been absolutely solid while gaming.

Saw a Nitro+ 6800 XT for sale at a reasonable price where the owner was having trouble with DX 12 titles (crashing pretty quickly) but no issues in DX 11 and Vulkan.

Considering taking a gamble as I can't see why the card itself would be selective over DX versions, might be game issues or something else in their system....any thoughts?

Danger is they may be trying to hide an issue with the card by dressing it up as that. So if it is generally instable as a card they can say they warned you.

There should really be no issue with DX12 on the card compared to other versions.

So on my 6800xt all working fine, with 2 DP's and USB-C to displayport adapter, only thing i wouldnt mind is the computers seems to always boot from the USB-C adapter monitor, doesnt change even if i swap cables around.
Anyway to configure which monitor outputs 1st?, ie bios or something?
I suppose I could just move my actual monitor around then configure in windows which order there are

No there is not, sorry.

My 6900xt senses which monitor is on and sends a signal to that one. Remember in windows in display settings you can move your monitors around how you like so they can be in any order from a display perspective.

That monitor issue is annoying, my older monitor is now vertical, but somewhere deep in Windows/Asus BIOS, it remembers it's the first monitor so I have to strain my neck 90 degrees everytime I bash delete on startup.

Swear Words. ANOTHER reason to reinstall Windows.

So the Nitro+ 6800 xt, still playing with undervolts with Hwinfo pinging every 250ms, fine tuning revealed 2225/2325 seems to be the point where my particular core wants more than 1000mV and asks for up to 1012mV. Dialing it back the 5mhz kept me at that random self imposed 1V limit. Happy days.

New settings spit out 99.5% on TS and Port Royal stability tests with max of 987mV, core looks like a straight line over the 20 loops, hwinfo says between 2265 and 2290 and average of 2275 which matches 3dmark.

So long term for my core 2220/2320mhz, 1000mV, 2120mem fast timings. Pwr -6 and custom fans to keep it below 80 degrees.
It pops over on the 20 loop stress tests but equilibrium seems to be about 2600rpm/82 degrees with hotspot peaking at 98 on first test as fans ramped. First test was the worst then the rest are consistent. Took off the fanstop and added a steeper initial rampup.

Port Royal scores 9500+ consistently so faster than at stock, 20-30 degrees cooler edge, peak power 260w against 271w limit and average about 220w. What madness is this.
On ACC between my 3800XT bottleneck and 165hz cap it mostly sits around 160-180w.

Going the other way and unlocking the +15 power limit just gets dumb fast on the stock cooler, it really, REALLY wants the 1150mV it probably doesn't need and spikes power and temps crazy high for a couple hundred more points in whatever. I think the highest effective clock I've seen was 2580 but that was the same from 10-15% power. A quick run with MPT and a tiny bump to power, it just takes whatever you unlock and uses it to threaten you with the 118 degree shutdown temp and point at your 650w power supply and laugh. For no extra clockspeed and margin of error score increases.

Whens that Morpheus 8069 due, or better yet hit me up if theres a grade b G12 and X53 on the store some day lmao

Bit more reading on MPT, reducing GFX max voltage sounded like it might actually limit applied voltage - rather than some nonsense offset that applies max voltage whenever it wants.

With MPT I limited max voltage to 1100mV to confirm it locks the max slider in Adrenalin. Nothing showed larger applied voltage regardless of clocks I (attempted to) run.

Down at 1075mV capped, max effective clock was 2480 in Port Royal scoring just over 10K. Any higher it crashed out 3d mark but latest driver doesn't reset or restart system.

Mem will max the slider but my old 5700XT was able to find stability way above stock max of 1900, inconsistent over about 1820 then no stability from 1860-1900 - a little messing with MPT and RBE to allow higher clocks showed 1860 to 2000 was basically a black hole then it would run set 2012 for benchmarks but crash if clock dropped below 2000 (or that's how it felt, probably simplifying on my part).

On the 6800 XT I increased the allowed memory speed to 2160, applied the PPT and it did seem to allow me to set it and ran at 2152 (I forgot AMD has that -8mhz going on versus what you set).

Set a max of 2200 and opened heaven and it was running but I heard a strange sound, panicked and killed the load. Discovered I'd left keys on desk and it was the mouse cable moving the keys that made the sound. Ooops.

Anyone had an issue with latest AMD drivers and 3DMark..basically I updated to very latest GPU driver (for warzone support) and my motherboard chipset drivers. Games so far seem fine but running 3DMark benchmarks are low and I found that my CPU basically runs at idle speed around 400htz throughout the runs. I did have a prompt to update 3DMark so not sure if it's a patch issue or not.

Cheers all for help in advance

New upgrade arrived this afternoon, Powercolor Red Devil 6800xt to replace my Red devil 5700xt. Thanks to Gibbo and the warehouse staff for the work over the festive period getting stuff shipped.
