The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

Been looking at the Pulse 7900xt which is at a tempting price. Would being paired with a i78700x slow it down at all?
With a weaker cpu you're better off with an AMD gpu anyhow due to the hardware scheduler being 'in-chip' as it were (and not a software implementation like Nvidia's). But yes the 8700K will slow such a fast gfx card down regardless, but I'd get it knowing that you'll get another boost when the platform is upgraded.

Thanks for that. I know the 8700k is getting abit long in the tooth but it's been a solid cpu.

That’s hard to say to be honest. I’ve played about with my 7900xtx and been able to limit some old games quite a bit. For example you can limit the max frequency to 2000mhz so it never goes over. I’ve limited mine that way for world of warships and it pulls about 200 watts. Your mileage will vary.

Thank's that's not bad 200 watts.

Anyone got any good undervolt settings for the 7900XT mba? Thanks
-6% undervolt works reliably for me (AMD's software says this is = 1034 mv). That's for a Sapphire RX 7900 XT (Gaming), which is based on the reference model (same cooler I think).

I don't know if that's good or not.

I also increase the power limit by 5%. It can get quite hot (>85 Celsius for the hotspot) if I increase the power limit beyond that.

Thanks for that buddy.

Just looked at the official price for the RX 7900 XT reference model. It's £799 and that's on sale!

I'm fairly sure it's gone up from the last time I checked.

It's disappointing really, because this should be that card that AMD hammers Nvidia with.

But it doesn't look like they are ever going to mass produce this card, at least in anything like the numbers Nvidia produces for it's higher end cards.

This distinction between the RX 7800 and RX 7900 series (just as before with RDNA2) I think is a strategic error, they could really just sell them as one series from the beginning.

The only reason that isn't the case (is probably) because of the poor production of Navi31 GPUs, which AMD will try to make up for with Navi32. The production numbers still look poor for Navi31 cards from the websites I've been looking at.

@AMD_Vik Is there any update on the VR update performance fix?

I see over on the Amd forum about a month ago, AMD Matt posted that progress was being made with finding the issue and debugging. That was a month ago and I've not heard anything since?

Love my 7900xt and I'm just getting into VR so this issue wasn't on my radar when I bought my card back in February.

this looks to be a decent card now prices are coming down..the vram just makes it bit less of a bitter pill to swallow at the 750 to 800 quid level than a 4070ti

I already have a good quality 850 psu and hopefully a 5800x3d can keep up with it..so I dont think it will overstretch my overall system

5800x3d will be grand and also an added Benefit is your house not catching on fire. :D

Apparently ASUS didn’t engineer any tolerance at all in to the X670E Gene I/O cover when using a big GPU like a Nitro…
