The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

Weird! I'm sure at some point I saw Furmark would invisibly override settings and hit max power when I had set a -ve%, but if you could see the power limit had been set to +15 that's strange. Not set a per game profile and forgotten about it?
thats the thing, none of my game profiles touch power limit /shrug

has anyone gone from a 4070Ti to a 7900 XTX ?

I game at 1440p, and whilst I can't justify the cost of a 4090 to absolutely smash it, it looks like a 7900XTX would give me a decent improvement.

Thoughts?

Should have said sorry, looking at either an ASRock Taichi 7900XTX or a Sapphire Nitro+

Unless you just like spending money for the sake of it, it’s not a move that I would make.

I thought it was recognised the 7900XTX was comparable to a 4080, and benchmarks in games I play seem to suggest I'd get a decent frame rate bump...
Have a watch of some of the videos on YT:

In raster it is an upgrade, but I'd consider it a sideswipe really, something you'd consider if you have money burning a hole in your pocket. Nothing transformative.

Tech powerup says 30% improvement. So unless you’re playing any games running out of VRam. 30% is not that much. Ray tracing I’m sure it would beat the 7900xtx. The choice is yours.

I'd suggest looking around for a buy it now. You can get an XFX for around 700 quid. Good price and a lovely card. No fancy RGB but do you look at the card while playing? I suspect not. It isn't good for ray tracing but I find that pointless anyway.

Ray tracing while when supported in games with a good implementation is really nice eye candy it's still a niche market. Having said that I find trying to play at stupid FPS numbers equally so beyond a certain point of course. I know for competitive gamers that probably matters but again how many people are competitive gamers, they are niche within a niche.

What's a good card to downgrade to for 1440p 240hz? at low settings? across Valorant/BO6/Xdefiant etc

I can just use BFI and get away with that for a couple of months (may consider swapping to a 9800x3d as well for more fps, sell the 13900k and motherboard)

I think I should cash in on the 7900xtx before any announcements are made but what's the cheapest gpu I can get away with in the interim? as I wait for next amd/5090
