The Radeon RX 7900 XT(X) Owners Thread.

Apologies if you’ve already done this, have you tried locking the frame rates of your games to the refresh rate of your display to see if this makes any difference?

I did this today, menus are much better now thank you. Coil whine down and manageable I think.
Do you get any on yours at all?

I've run into another issue now, the Radeon Wattman settings reset every other restart I do. Very frustrating, and it looks like its not been resolved for years either.

Does anyone else find the stock fan profile on the nitro really aggressive? It'll hit 100% fan speed while the gpu temp is in the mid to low 60's and junction temp in in the low 70's.
Anyone else experience similar or is it just mine, ended up just setting the max fan speed to 50%

Yeh its very aggressive, and overkill if you undervolt and lower the clocks. I did similar and lowered the curve as mine never goes higher than 65 Core (71 Junction).

Set custom settings per game rather than global then they only load when you load said game. The reset is a pain. I think it tends to happen with a registry change like a Windows update ect....

well after more testing still getting very intermittent driver crashes. even tried moving the card to a new PCIe slot. and in pubg it's crashing out. yet stress test using 3dmark new direct 12 test 80 degress all fine.
so today iv bit the bullet and bought a new 1600-watt PSU. replacing my 1000. if that does not fix the issue I'm done and it's getting RMA as I can't thing of anything elce I can try so far
full reinstall both windows 10 and 11
changing PCIe slots
checking all cables
under voting
standard clocks
even overclock auto
wiping my overclockers bundle overclock
playing different games
some games it's fine for a few hours
some crash out in mins

check all your other drivers are upto date, which cpu and motherboard are you using?, you may need a bios update if the board is more than 2 years old, tbh some new boards need a update to work with newer gpu's (uefi bios's on gpu's)

I’ve tried so many times to reproduce that And I never can.

Settings should only be lost after an unexpected system restart or a driver crash.

Try disabling fast startup see if that helps.

Have you lowered your maximum frequency ?
My MBA card had a lot of crashes with the stock maximum frequency setting, when i fixed it to 2850 not only i had less crashes but i was able to undervolt it a lot more. now i can run it at 1080mV and it is 100% stable in all games without crashes. Some benchmarks can run at 1050 or 1060.
3Dmark stress test is actually very bad for testing real stability in games with my card i can pass it with only 1050mV and it instantly crashes in games with this voltage.

If you can live without Wattman then try a minimal driver install when you get the option, I gather that might fix the crashing.

Cool I’m glad that helped. I think most GPU’s I’ve had have had coil whine, usually more audible at higher frame rates. As long as I can’t hear it with my case side panels on, and within the refresh rate of my monitor I’m ok with it.

At the moment I do get coil whine but only above around 300fps ish, but my monitor is 120hz so never really hear it when I fix the frame rates in my games.

1. Update Bios and chipset drivers to latest. Test still have problem then try 2.
2. Install DDU and remove the graphics driver. Install latest driver and leave settings default. Test still have problem then try 3.
3. Get fur mark or msi komposter and test for about 15 mins. If you have a crash its your graphics card. If it does not crash its looking like something else.
4. Remove all overclocks from your system and use MSI afterburner to monitor temps while playing games.

Before RMA try turning off XMP or lower the mhz on RAM. Seen some XT(X) owners in reddit who's RAM overclock/XMP went unstable after installing new GPU.

Have you checked if your's has vapor chamber fault?

Mine has. Try it open air, vertical mount. That's how mine finally ran stock. Also got some OC/UV. As I'm gonna waterblock it, I've not RMA'd.

Originally I underclocked, still could have issues. Then I tried a new PSU, still issues at stock, underclocked. Finally above fix worked.
