The Rangers Saga and Fallout Thread

As Jokester said it is to try to keep it roughly about the topic in hand as it keeps going off course and getting a bit personal.

I'm pretty sure you're both saying the same thing there.

Having read Jokester's post again, you would be appear to be correct. The point still stands that it can be interpreted incorrectly.

As far as the personal stuff goes, then yes I agree. I apologise if I caused any offence. It is a highly emotive subject and emotions can run high. And also people were offering opinions (usually negative towards the club) and dressing them up as facts. So I had to question whether this was driven by a hatred for Rangers and an excitement over the subject matter, or a want to discuss the subject objectively.

So the letter is supposed to be going out today (after yesterday's initial time they said passed), with only 5.5m or less for creditors, I cant see HMRC accepting such a reduction.

The other big story this week is the court case regarding the transfer ban, Duff and Phelps admitting they didnt know they were breaking UEFA rules on taking your own governing body to court, given that Rangers were given a light punishment that was created so they didnt get thrown out the league, the only way to fix this would be to give a legal punishment which is to be thrown out the league.

Actually they stated being throw out of the league was too harsh and thast why they dreampt up the transfer ban. The next legal as you put it punishment was exclusion from Scottish Cup. I'd be happy with that.

As for the 5.5 Million have you read the letter to creditors?? It could well also invlovle future payments over the next 5 years. also include 3.5 million Jelavic money and also any monies won from court case Vrs the Coyller Bristow. Time will tell. However the Creditors also have to vote on the fee's due to D&P they can say no you aint getting 3 million here 1.5.

First link shows the nonsense the administrators have got Rangers in with this court case, the second tells of how Green intends to make his money out of Rangers, pretty sure there has been many share issues in the past and they have failed so Im not sure why they would think its a way for anyone to make money in the future.

No-one ****ged the bunnet of for stating he was going to profit from sorting out Celtic. I have no problems with Green making money if it stabalises us. Now whether or not a share issue would be a success remains to be seen. However after Whyte and Dodgy Dave I'm sure there are plenty of Rangers supporters ready to put cash in this time round.

Do you think there would be though when the fighting fund only raised a paltry amount and previous share issues have fallen through?

I think Green has misjudged it if this is his strategy.

I think most fans would've realised whoever brought Rangers out of administration would only be there short term and sell the business on once it was making a profit.

I just hope Rangers win today's court case since it'll mean the SFA would be shown up again for the incomptent management of the game in Scotland.

Fighting fund wasnt there to buy shares though thats what the Save Rangers campaign was for. Deducting the obvious phoney pledges it was sitting at around 15 million.

I guess we will have to see how it pans out, I still suspect Green will walk when the CVA fails given its going to be something derisory like 5p in the pound, administrators fees are going to be at least 3m (probably more like 4m by the time they are done) which is only leaving 4.5-5m in the creditors pot.

He's allowed to buy the club for £5.5m if the CVA fails so I don't see him walking away unless they're hit hard by punishments (unlikely).

Why would you want that?!?! The daily mail article points out that the only thing Scottish football will be able to do is expel Rangers from football to enforce the rules. Realistically that has to happen if they loose the court case as there would be no way for any future punishment from the SFA/SPl to ever be valid against other clubs.

For Rangers to exist at all they shouldn't be complaining to the courts like they haven't done anything wrong and just get on with it, accept they owe a lot of money and need to find some to plug up the mess of their finances. If they have anyone reassuring they haven't done wrong this mess will just get dragged on further and further with everyone looking incredibly stupid. :(

The other big thing thats happened of course is Billy Dodds trying to defend Rangers but scoring a spectacular own goal with his comments, undermining what Rangers have based their defence on, everyone of course knows that Billy Dodds is an idiot but I think even his biggest critic underestimated how daft he could be!

Actually thats not the case. They gave Rangers the maximum financial penalty which was 100000 fine. They thought that wasnt enough though but felt expulsion was to severe sio made up the transfer embargo. There are other penalties that they could have used Banned from cup competition for a season being one of them. However I'm sure the sponsors would be happy with one half of the big draw gone.

Thats the problem though isnt it, banning from the cup wasnt reasonable enough, so the SFA trying to be fair, gave a reasonable punishment for the crimes, Rangers are not happy with that so take them to court and may be left with the only punishment left, expulsion if they win.

I was pointing out that expulsion wasnt the only option actually documented in the rule books other than the we reserve the right to make up punishments anyway.

Admins said deal was pence in the pound. Reporter reporting it as 1p in the pound.

Current debt atm is around 50 million. 8.5 in cva pot so even is Duff and duffer got 3.5 million thats still 5 million in the pot and thats 10 p in the pound so me thinks thats rubbish.

edit: Actually if its 1p in the pound from 8.5 million then we must have lost Big Tax case to the tune of over 700 million quid.
