i cant see them doing anything to the sfa, only make a few noises and look on .
Well in the Sion case, FIFA intervened threatening the S(wiss)FA with suspension from international competition. The SFA then reinstated the initial sanctions against Sion.

Given our standing in internationals, maybe it's not much of a threat. :p

STV reporting earlier tonight that Duff & Phelps will receive just over £5.5m from the creditors pot and that the best offer creditors can expect is 9p in the £1. This also depends on the big tax case that could leave them with next to nothing.

If it's true that Green can walk away if they're banned from the cup then it's getting very messy for the SFA.

With the Sion case I think it'll depend on what the club were actually charged with or some technicality. A few of their clubs were hammered last season for breaking financial rules so interesting to see what happens now.

Or light at the end of the tunnel, but you know what they say about that. I can see this just being a car crash now for Rangers, the SFA, and the SPL, and pretty much everyone else that's involved.

FIFA statement at bottom -

FIFA broke their silence on the matter after the verdict when they pointed out national associations should take “direct action” to prevent clubs using the law courts to determine disputes.

A statement from FIFA read: “At the time of writing we have not received any communication from the Scottish FA.

“In such a case, FIFA will ask the member association to take action so that the club withdraws its request from the ordinary courts.

“FIFA will closely monitor the situation so that the issue is resolved as fast as possible.”

Going to be messy end to this - danger of SPL having no credibility at all. Support your local amateurs.

The SFA will be forced to punish them with heavy penalty now after they went to the courts or lose what little credibility they have left. Thankfully FIFA are now involved so they can no longer dodge the issue until Rangers CVA/newco is sorted.

so rangers get punished for going to court to over turn a decision that wasnt even in the rule book for punishments to handed out for bringing the game into disrepute.the very fact that the sfa panel thought that getting kicked out of scottish cup was a greater punishment than a years transfers embrago, just shows what clowns they are.

It gets even better when there was no arbitration process to CAS in the articles, which was why Rangers rejected the CAS route. They wanted to protect the Scottish cup and keep Rangers in the competition no doubt for sponsor/TV interest so for them it was a lesser penalty since it only affected Rangers.

It's just the latest in a long-running saga of incompetence and I think we'll be seeing (or should see) several resignations from the SFA.

They didnt, it wasnt severe enough

So the sfa tried to do rangers a favour by giving them less of a punishment than the rules allowed. Now because rangers kicked up they are going to be hit with tougher sanctions (than they would have got if they just kept quiet) and the sfa with them? I love this country.

Although I agree the SPL has no credibility either This is purely the failure of the SFA.

RE the punishment to be handed out. I'm not sure how the SFA could hand out a suspension/expulsion as they have already stated in black and white that that punishment was too harsh. That leaves them with a cup ban for a season. Now some here say that's not harsh enough. Well to answer you its the only option they have left themselves with.

Rangers are optimistic that FIFA will not regard their dispute with the SFA as significantly serious because the club argued only that the sanction of a one-year signing ban was not available to the SFA Judicial Panel which imposed it, not that there should be no punishment.

Yup, into a dark alley thankfully :p

But taking the matter to court is a new issue, they said expulsion was too harsh for the PAYE issue. Taking it to court may cary its own punishment.

The punishment of Whyte wasn't severe enough. He should have bore the brunt of the punishments. It was his decisions that lead to the current state of affairs. The club wasn't responsible for his actions.

Doubt it, bbc sport reporting of celtics use of the EBT scheme aswell.

See you in div 3 ;)

Been through this one before, Celtic used it to pay off players as they left, Rangers have used it to supplement players wages, which is much more illegal...

Taking it to court may cary its own punishment.

That was my understanding, by trying to circumvent the footballing authorities they have broken one of the main rules of competing in the league (on appealing to outside authorities when the SFA and SPL have panels to appeal decisions too). Can only assume a bigger punishment will be imposed because of this.
