The Rangers Saga and Fallout Thread

If they get a CVA though, they very much can expect to walk away without any further penalty on the financial side as they have already had their SPL punishment. All the clubs made the rules and currently they have had their penalty and that will be it for that.

Fortunately there is still the other things all sitting in the background which will get them a decent punishment. There has been a real shifting of "Rangers must survive at all costs" mentality that we had even just a few weeks ago when we were told that money comes above sporting integrity by the Killie chairman, to now having 3 SPL owners speak out against Rangers, if they all vote the same way as you would assume Celtic will have to for their fans sake (not their own, financial suicide), then we are only a club away from a potential vote to stop a newco coming straight back into the SPL.

Today the contracts refer to full payment and the release cause is triggered in the bigger name players contracts, Naismith, Whittaker, Davis, McGregor, Edu and Lafferty will all be off more than likely, the administrators have played this well too, set prices for these guys which stops an absolute fire sale, they will get plenty of cash in to pay their bills before the liquidation starts.

I thought we agreed to never speak of that again ;)

I did say "more than likely" though, I never said it will certainly happen, if it wasnt in the players minds then they wouldnt have negotiated a release clause.

So should Rangers escape any and all punishment by the SFA then? No no-one has said that just that they should be punished with a punishment that exists. Should they be allowed to build up massive debts by mismanagement, tax dodging and living far outside their means and just be allowed to walk away from all their responsibilities? Again no but this happens in business not just football
It sets a very dangerous precident. What is there to stop another club from racking up massive debts and then just starting up as a newco and a clean slate? Nothing bar the new rules the SPL have set out and the fact HMRC are actively trying to make sure Pre-Pack administrations can no longer happen
What about all the companies owed money by Rangers, from the local newsagent to other football clubs and the taxman, is it fair that they all don't get paid because of Rangers mismanagement? No its not fair but it happens not just from football clubs but with other businesses

If they had been just another company in an industrial estate somewhere, they would have been wound up and closed down by now. This depends on the ability of the company to recover after the administration if possible But because they are a football team and have fans, the normal laws and rules Don't apply? No Administrations act for the benefit of creditors but will try and save the buisness too if possible and think that it will recover
How many times have we heard of companies going bust, walking away from their debts and before the ink has dried, started up again as a new company with the same assets and the same people in charge? All these Land of Leather type furniture shops per chance?
How is a newco in football any different?
If the CVA fails, how can, as has been mentioned several times, the new owners buy assets reputed to be worth £115 million (Ibrox n Murray Park) for around £5.5 million? Shouldn't these be sold at their proper value to pay off the creditors if the CVA fails?Who knows but I'm sure that the value of the assets actually doesnt reflect their true worth. And I ask you then how can you buy 85% worth of shares for a quid that are worth millions??

Lastly, I am interested to hear what the Rangers fans would deem as a fair and suitable punishment for all these financial misdeeds? Well we have already received the maximum fine at £100000 I would expect to see a ban from the Scottish Cup or maybe even a years suspension coming our way. I believe if it is the suspension that it will be suspended for 2 or 3 years due the the effect it would have on other clubs.

Its only likely if they want to leave. Time will tell. I seen photo of Alukos hat-trick ball and MacGregor signed it and wrote please stay. Not what you'd expect from someone planning on leaving eh?

The shares would be worth millions of there wasnt crippling debt.

If anyone is likely to stay it will be someone like McGregor who is obviously the Rangers supporting players like McGregor and Naismith.

I find that a very rose tinted answer. A suspended suspension? In other words not much.
This is where money overtakes sporting integrity. Even the clubs that have been screwed over by them will probably vote to keep them in as their own finances are spread so incredibly thin. Look at Dunfermline, they couldn't pay their players wages until the money owed from Rangers came in. Unless you have a super rich sugar daddy like Man City or Chelsea, you are in **** state. Football is a very sorry state of affairs these days.

They manage to suspend touchline bans.

However I'd be surprised it it was a suspension or expulsion. Time will tell.

Yes, we'll if any good was to come out of this sorry mess and say Rangers were kicked out, maybe, just maybe the other clubs would realise they have to stop ****ing away money like it is water and actually live within their means. No more monopoly money wages.

The problem is that the SPL only had a 10 point penalty for the first time in administration as the main punishment. Once people started to realise just how bad it was at Rangers lead the clubs to try and save face by bringing in new ones. That's why I was saying at the beginning of this it was the likely outcome.

Now we have everything else coming out then it's likely the SFA will fine them and ban from the cup for a year. If Rangers get the CVA then that's probably the worst that'll happen depending on the SPL investigation into EBT use.

The only people peddling the line that we need Rangers is Rangers, their supporters and the press who feed off them, its a myth.

If Morton were in the SPL instead of Rangers it would make us more money, if Dundee were in it would make St Johnstone and Dundee United more money etc etc.

It has been interesting to note that Doncaster in his interview was bigging up the attendances at scottish football which even without Rangers would be one of the best supported leagues per head of population in europe.

Good one from P&B, sums it up quite nicely really of what could happen.

The Good Lord: Good morning, Mr RFC QC. What brings you back before me on this wondeful sunny morning?

Mr RFCQC: My client wishes to contest the decision of the SFA in imposing a suspension of membership.

TGL: And on what grounds do they contest?

RFCQC : That is is too harsh.

TGL: Well, that is not my decision to make. Is it outwith the rules of the SFA?

RFCQC: No, my Lord

TGL: I don't see much that I can do for you.

RFCQC: But we only want to be suspended from The Scottish Cup

TGL: Well, in the current circumstances I think that your wish shall come true.

RFCQC: But they changed their minds.

TGL : Isn't that what you wished for three weeks ago? You should have advise your clients to be careful what you wish for.

RFCQC: But we wanted them to change their minds in a way that suited us. We're speshull. We arra pepul.

TGL. GTF.

Heres another good one

Fifa to Rangers "Why didn't you go to the Court Of Arbitration For sport?"

Rangers " SFA rule book doesn't allow for that "

Fifa to the SFA " You stupid ***** stop wasting our time."
