The Rangers Saga and Fallout Thread

and im getting sick of the bs "scottish football doesnt need rangers" aye right, the biggest supported club in scotland, thing is you know you need us but another one who is prepared to propagate the lie.

Twaddle - Complete and utter twaddle.

The arrogance of some (yes some) Rangers fans, management and certain "legends" is beyond belief sometimes. Rangers, as a club , have themselves to blame for the state they are in and whilst I same some sympathy for the fans I have just about had enough of the whole sorry saga. The SFA/SPL should expel them to the 3rd division and be done with it.

at what level ? i dont need to work the state would support me but what life would i have, for example.
At a level that actually sustains it. Too often we hear the we're too big to fail line as if everyone else should bend over to accomodate Rangers and make a special case for them at the expense of the integrity of the competition.

so you are telling me that dundee united would be on as a secure financial footing as it is now with out rangers in the spl ?

it comes down to economics jokester not love mate :)

In a way, I can't help but share that sentiment in a small way. It is pretty much the reason I have little or no interest in football. The old firm have the SPL so sewn up, it is never a case of who is going to win but which one of the old firm will it be this year. When they regularly finish 20-30 points above third place, it makes it awfy boring. Since the SPL was (re)born I think Rangers have won 7 times and Celtic 8?
Far far too predictable and no drama or competition other than a bit of pride and possible the chance to go out in the first round of the Europa cup for all the other teams. Big deal.

A view widely held in Scotland. SPL is a dying. The sky money is just extending its life when it needs to be put down.

In other two tier leagues at least the top teams are decent..you used to be able to look forward to old firm game buts now its just medicore pap. Now the old firm are rubbish and full of hate and bringing the game down in disrepute. Yes I'm also referring to lennons antics as a manager.

Obviosly this whole adminstration has brought forward a huge amount of frustration about the SPL in general. Has to be handled right if not destroy the integrity of the league beyond repair. Assuming we not already past that point.

Maybe that's where we differ then, for me there is more important things to sporting competition than just money.

yes but if you were the chairman of say aberdeen, would you still feel the same? unfortunately the game is very money orientated now .its just the way of world football and not unique to scotland.

chelsea and man city being perfect examples.

All the Chairmen of the other SPL clubs will be very aware of the impact of voting in a newco direct to the SPL - it might keep the Rangers fans happy but it'll drive away even more of their own fans.

its the reason the spl has dithered so long on their decision, they realise they need ranger financially thats all , i know some hate this fact but its an economic reality for more than a few chairmen.

And that's why I keep saying the SPL is screwed either way.

I will watch an SPL with integrity above all else. I will not watch an SPL with Rangers not suitably punished. I will watch nothing but La Liga and Celtic in Europe, should we play in it.

Although, even if Rangers are allowed to stay in the SPL. What state will they be in?

They can't spend the swathes of cash that they have spent the past 5 years, even though uncle Walter apparently didn't spent a penny.

They need to trim off £10m+ a year off their operating costs.

No European money for 3 years, so that's another 10m revenue gone. (but then again see point 5 down from this)

They'd need to repay the loan from the Green brigade that buys them

They will have zero, zilch, nada line of credit

No club will do a buy now pay later on any players

The taxman will demand (is it a year or 3 years) money up front??

They will still have McCoist as manager

Add to that the fans will walk away, as that's what they do best **cough** 19k at home against dundee utd in cup **cough**

Wouldn't they have the highest attendances if that were the case?

In what way are they the biggest supported club, if you don't mind me asking?
swings and roundabouts on attendance figures, anyway , rangers have more fans in scotland than any other spl club.

could you guys start another thread if you want to talk about , celtic in europe, celtic attendances, how much money they have,or any other celtic related greatness ,which you try time and time again to turn this thread round to.
