I think the stat is something like the top 80% of women are competing for the top 20% of men, if you're in the bottom 80% of men, good luck.

Personally having found myself single 4 years ago at 32 after a 7 year relationship, dating apps etc when friends were using them always looked like a amazing way to do things, finding myself needing to use them; it sucks. I find some of the non-Tinder dating apps better though (Hinge in particular I've met some nice women through)

I do have a single friend who is very attractive, when she sets up her profiles she gets literal thousands of likes and more-or-less every man she swipes right on is a match. Frankly it is a completely different & incomparable experience to using these apps as a man (or certainly as myself anyway)

You've reminded me of the old thread on here where the guy posted videos of himself trying to talk to women in the street. Complete with heavy breathing and walking up behind them to surprise them then being perplexed when they were terrified of him. Can't find it now but don't even remember what to search for.

i have never got why it is always the woman who takes the hit for being a money grabber in these scenarios I mean clearly she is.

back before i had a wife and child i went on holiday to the maldives (oh the days of spare money!) and the amount of blokes reaching twilight years with very young women - who if they were their grand daughters would have the men locked up if you catch my drift.

buy why does the woman take the blame here? jealousy perhaps?......... to me it is absolutely fine, and is essentially a 2 way contract........ you have a loaded old man wanting to pull some woman over half his age for a romp in the sack the likes of 90% of blokes his age can only dream off.

its fine imo........ essentially it is no different than using a high end escort (which i am also fine with in principle) only you may be less likely to pick up an STD.

however that said, neither the man should be shocked when the woman turns out to be cheating on him with someone closer to her age........ nor the woman shocked when she gets traded in for a better model.

***** and it isnt just men either, some very wealthy older ladies do exactly the same thing with the pool cleaner etc......... but it started with my questioning why it is the pretty young woman who should get the blame.

even back in the real world with more relatable people... it is quite normal for the bloke to look for women 5+ years younger, and i know for a fact (working in a predominantly female office) that many women are interested, perhaps not in the car a guy drives (but often it is) after a hot date but certainly how nice his "stuff" is.

i have never once heard a guy ask another guy what the womans house was like after he went back to her place, but the opposite is not true. Read into that what you will am just talking my experiences.

PS looking at the photos in the link above - not read the text sorry - if i was that bloke i absolutely would "date" that woman given half a chance if i was single ;)

I wonder if a significant part of it is down to family. People are not having large families these days, contenting themselves with only one or two children. This means an increased incidence of families where boys and girls grow up and socialise separately. Combine that with single-sex schools and less neighbourliness and you have an increasing disconnect between the sexes. Further, both parents are often working so hard and so long they have less time to be positive role models.

I'd forgotten all about that one, cycling up to them and putting his hand up signalling them to stop like a cop on traffic duty :cry: was funny and concerning in equal measure

Met first proper girlfriend (2 years) on a clubbing forum.
Met next gf (2 years) on a different clubbing forum.
Next through a friend, she screwed me over after 6 months.
Next through PoF, together for 5 years, bought a flat, got a cat, but sadly realised she wasn't the right one for me.
Next through OkCupid, got married after 4 years, been together for 7, have a house, and even more cats.

There is ZERO chance I would have randomly met my wife as we went about in completely different circles (mainly by way of music taste), so I wouldn't poo-poo dating sites.
Though the swipey ones a bit crapper as no effort is put in.
