Very interesting analysis of DLSS here with Doom Eternal (+RT): https://forum.beyond3d.com/posts/2215527/

Legend

Blue - Details are greater than native
Green - Approximately the same as native
Yellow - Slightly degraded
Red - Heavily degraded

Below 2 images of DLSS performance (vs native).

Black Myth has swapped from unreal engine 4 to unreal engine 5 and added RTX ray tracing and DLSS.

below is a gameplay video with RTX ray tracing and dlss turned on at 4k

The ascent ray tracing now works on gamepass version, holy moly! It looks stunning. Better than cyberpunk so far I would say.

Ray tracing has a massive hit on fps in it but dlss as per usual brings fps right back up.

As per usual in motion always looks far better though:

Great game this all round now that it is somewhat fixed up.

123% performance hit for this ^

Colour me unimpressed.

I'd be keeping RT off based on the performance you are getting due to the minor improvement to the reflection quality.

That's just one area (this area is probably the most demanding), also, there are differences elsewhere other than just that one reflection:

There are a lot of other areas where the difference is far more noticeable, mostly in the spoiler tag but CBA doing comparison shots then, might do some more later.

Decent video comparison here though that sums it up:

The reflections are always the most obvious but it's the lighting in motion which is just the cherry on top, truly jaw dropping in motion.

Not a game where you need a constant 100+ fps either so I'm happy to take the performance hit for superior IQ and immersion.

Other than the area I highlighted, the rest of the image looks better in the RT off image, didn't notice it until you just uploaded the comparison slider screenshot.

Just my opinion of course, if you are happy with the level of performance and image quality with RT on then that's good. :)

I completed it on release. To be honest when playing I did not see a massive difference between RTX ON and OFF. Decent game, I enjoyed it for the most part, but not as good as some have made it out to be. Great for a small dev team though.

Did you play the gamepass version? If so, ray tracing didn't work even if it was enabled in the settings :(

Nah, got it on Steam. Was working just fine. Just that for me, while in action did not make much of difference. That is not to say there is not much of a difference, just nothing to write home about for me personally while actually playing.

Fair.

The part I am at right now is full of reflections so it's immediately noticeable as soon as I turn it off

just turn off rt reflection, others do not affect performance that much

on another note, dlss quality at 1080p in this game looks... better than native 1080p in this title

One of the earlier posts in the thread showed how to track it and indeed dlss on quality mode indeed resolves part of the pixels on each frame better than native - but this applies to a range of games not just this one

Having spent almost 37 hours playing this I have to agree, gorgeous looking title. RT adds so much to the atmosphere if you take the time to explore the environment rather than just chasing a quest marker. Fantastic job with the audio also. I just wish it had a bit more depth to the RPG side. Fingers crossed we see this level of detail in their next project.

I hope that will be the case for the next game also. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if they had got that and the story right.
