And Roeder admits he will run the rule over the Katwijk-born striker throughout the tournament.
The United boss said today: "He is certainly one of several players we are looking at and I am looking forward to seeing him in Germany.
"He's a player I like and I have found it interesting what he has had to say over the last few days.
Why wait until the world cup?
Have we never sent scouts to watch him before?
He has scored almost 100 goals over the last 3 years , has this suddenly come to our attention?
Is it suddenly a huge suprise that we need a striker for next season?

You can tell its off sky, because half their facts are wrong and they cant spell!Andrei Shevchenko has delayed crunch talks with Milan for a further 24 hours.
The Ukrainian ace was due to meet Milan officials on Thursday to discuss his future with the Serie A giants.
He has recently intimated that he could leave the Rossoneri in search of a new challenge, with Chelsea keen to sign the prolific striker.
Milan are determined to thwart Chelsea's interest and have offered Shevchenko a contract extension through to 2011.
The former Dynamo Kiev star returned to Milan for treatment on a knee injury on Thursday, when he was also expected to meet the club's vice-president Adriano Galliani.
But Shevchenko was unable to expand on his future after leaving the club's training ground, confirming he now plans to sit down with Galliani on Friday.
"I cannot say anything yet," said Shevchenko. "First I have to speak to Galliani.
"I will not meet Galliani today, perhaps tomorrow and maybe in the evening."
If Milan are unable to persuade Shevchenko to stay in Italy, then Chelsea are reportedly readying a world record bid for the fearsome forward.

Shev decision put on hold
Andriy Shevchenko’s future will not be decided today after his meeting with Milan chief Adriano Galliani was postponed.
The Ukrainian was set to announce whether he would stay at his present club or go once he had spoken to the Rossoneri chief.
But Shevchenko left the outfit’s Milanello training centre on Thursday without indicating if he was Premiership bound or not.
“I can’t say anything yet as I need to speak with Galliani first,” said the player. “I won’t see him today though, it will happen tomorrow, probably in the evening.”
The Chelsea-target flew back from Kiev last night in order to receive treatment on his injured right knee.
The former European Footballer of the Year spent three hours at the training ground before leaving for his home.
Although Shevchenko has yet to officially announce his departure, whispers in the peninsula insist that he will be joining the Stamford Bridge club.
The London giants, who have been chasing him for years, are ready to offer £35m for the former Dynamo Kiev player.
Some reports in Italy on Thursday claim that Milan are ready to sell, but only if the player signs a statement insisting that the decision to leave was one made by him and not the club.
Shevchenko is believed to be looking for a change of environment at the request of his wife, who reportedly fancies London life.
