The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

What power supply do you have? My previous card (Asus STRIX 390X) had horrendous coil whine when I first got it, it was absolutely intolerable compared to the R9 270X it replaced. It was so bad that you could hear the whine changing frequency when scrolling a page in Chrome. Turned out the problem was the PSU, and upgrading to a HX850i got rid of the whine completely. The old power supply was a high enough power rating, but was "only" 80+ Bronze rated. Cant remember what it was exactly, it was a fairly basic semi modular Antec unit. I can only assume that it was providing comparatively "unclean" power compared to the new one or something?

My Vega 56 Pulse on the same PSU does not produce any coil whine that I can hear.

Worth considering anyway.
I have the Evga Supernova G2 850W PSU, its a 80+ Gold and im sure its not the psu.

I can't get Windows 10 to recognize HDMI audio on my Vega 56 Pulse. I've tried everything including wiping Windows and starting over. I have a 2400G on the motherboard which it recognizes fine (if I set IGD as main instead of PEG) and the only way I can use the Pulse for HDMI out is either with no HDMI audio or send it to the motherboard HDMI and tell Windows to use the Pulse for the video decoding. I tried disabling the integrated graphics and the on board Realtek. No dice. If anyone here has a Vega 56 Pulse can they test if their HDMI audio is detected by Windows 10? Especially if you have a 2200G/2400G. Thanks.

Hdmi audio is detected by win10 on my intel system, with a pulse 56, could be driver issues?
Maybe check the motherboard manufacturers site for updates?

Does it show up at all in Device Manager?
Yes it does. The only way I am able to get audio from HDMI is from the motherboard. I need to know whether this is by design, a driver issue or a fault on the Pulse. If I plug any monitor into the Pulse I do not get any audio (DP should carry audio too but that does not work either as nothing becomes available as an audio device on the Pulse on the audio drop down in system tray and AMD high definition audio in the sound control panel says it's unplugged). In device manager everything is there.

Of course I am concerned about this because even though I can work around it for now, if I were to upgrade to a Zen 2 CPU later without integrated graphics I may end up with a GPU that still does not have audio out which more problematic to return to Overclockers.

Works fine on mine, just tested it. Audio over Display Port works as well, as you'd expect.

So you can see AMD High Definition Audio Device in Device Manager, and its not got a yellow exclamation mark or anything indicating a problem? Have you checked the audio output list in Settings for a disabled device?

A picture paints a thousand words. The Denon shown here is connected to the motherboard HDMI. If I connect it to the Pulse HDMI it looks exactly like the one below it. It does not change and I can get no audio from it. Only video.

we used to have a similar problem years ago, it all depended on what was turned on first the tv / amp setup or the pc. using a sony tv and amp and a rx480 amd card
Yeah I read that elsewhere but it does not matter in which order things are turned on. I have tested all configurations. It should send audio via display port but it does not send via DP connected to a monitor with speakers either.

Hey guys. I'm helpless now.

I ordered a Pulse 56 on Black Friday. The first card was artefacting like mad in certain games. Returned it, was confirmed faulty. The second card came, also artefacted (always seems to be a similar issue, certain textures in game, especially stuff like smoke - blinks white every so often). Returned that card, also confirmed faulty. Got my replacement today... and guess what - still blinking white.

Any help, or am I THAT unlucky?

Must be a driver conflict or something between the onboard and dedicated... I guess you don't have access to another system you can put the card in and test?

I think I won the major silicon lottery with my reference Vega 56 LC. I got it around a month ago and put a slight overclock on the card. I recently got a water block for it as we all know how bad the refernce cooler is.

I managed to get 1700mhz on the core and 1155mhz on the HBM!!

My scores on timespy and firestrike are also very very good.

Timespy I'm getting around 7850

Firestrike I'm getting around 26000

I'm very happy with this card expecially as I got it for only £220 used.

Also Im using a 650w PSU which is handling games fine just in certain benchmarks its getting to 660w with a plug meter.

1155mhz on the HBM on vega 56 bios? Can you send a screenshot of that? Ive not heard of a single 56 bios gpu going over ~1000mhz, so to say yours can do 1155mhz seems unlikely to be honest.

These cards are weird, usually my core boosts to 1544 max in games which I'm happy with as I only applied undervolts but gaming last night and ambient was warmer and it felt like boosting to 1634 at some point, same temps and fan speeds etc

Weird
