To get on the Roll of Honour all you have to do is post a pic with your user name on it of your Vega 56.

Ok - this fixes it:

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

above is v2.77 (original link was 2.6.something)

Thanks, updated with new link :)

Guide to flash BIOS:

1. Download ATIWinflash here: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

2. Create a Backup of your high power BIOS (switch in standard position towards face plate).

3. Download the Vega 64 BIOS (use non liquid) here: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios...X+Vega+64&interface=&memType=&memSize=&since=

The one you want is the one WITHOUT _1.rom at the end. Check the details and you will see the one without underline1 has the higher power draw, i.e. is the non power saving BIOS.

4. Flash that ROM with ATIWinflash

5. Reboot your PC.

Check with the newest beta build of HWinfo if your memory voltage now shows 1.35V.

You've done it!

Note: You can't flash the secondary BIOS, it is protected.

Some feedback on playing with mine...

While flashing to vega64 bios did incease base scores in heaven & tombraider (which were all I had initally benchmarked to compare against) vs stock 56, they still didnt beat my OC 56 scores @ 1600 core / 950 ram.

Even overclocking on the 64 bios up to 1100 hmb failed to bump scores above my OC56 results, so im guessing there is a bug in here somewhere where speeds are not being applied correctly - think I just about managed to match my 56 scores with balls to the wall 1100 ram clocks, but truth be told I dont think they can be applying correctly as the outcome is the same as with 56@ 950mhz.

What about in games ?

I didnt really spend that much time with them in game, just while having a tidy up left benches running - that said the 56 bios is very fussy about hbm speed, anything over 960 @ +50 power limit and driver locks up, and the core randomly crashes on oc speed depending what you are doing (for example heaven can take +5% core @ 1100mv, whereas timespy crashs with +3%).

with the 64 bios it would complete at 1100 HMB, but as i say, im not sure these speeds are actually applying despite what wattman says due to no jump in actual scores.

at the moment, ive left core at default clocks, 1100mv, +50% power limit, hbm @ 950, 950mv - dont really need that extra 2 fps on this 1080 monitor, going to wait a couple of driver revisions and have another play with it.

While there is a small driver bug in the hmb frequency/voltage section of wattman it is possible, if your lucky and click the right things int he right order, to get the core and ram overclocked.
I have ran 1680 core and 1100 ram fine on my 56 (which thinks it a 64) - however it is all too easy at the moment to get it to move back to 500 or 800mhz hbm speed because of the bug.

Suffice to say it really shifts at that speed :p

Yep I have a funny feeling mine was dropping back to standard 64 clocks (when i had the 64 bios on there) if I hit a combo on the ram it didnt like, another couple of weeks and would say these issues will be resolved and should really start to see some monster clocks.

Edit: The review has been taken down, 3d guru was using wrong bios apperently

http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/review-asus-radeon-rog-rx-vega-64-strix-8gb.html

sus Strix Vega 64 review came out on 3d Guru, only 1c lower temps on full load and merely 2 less DBa than reference design.

Not a lot of improvement here and not really worth the wait nor extra £20-50 asus will charge for it over reference (im guessing).

Lets see if Vega 56 will have better experience from AIB treatment.

Wow that's disappointing, I'm not sure what I'll do now. :(

^ What a fail that is.

Tell me about it.

They've done the same as they did with the Fury model and given it a full length backplate, If you remember the Fury Strix was hotter, louder and noisier than the Sapphire Fury Tri-x which had one third of the cooler space open air at the back, I hope Sapphire shrink there Vega tri-x down so it's the same. I wonder what revision this uses, I'll have a good read.

EDIT: Yet another review claiming it's hard to get hold of a Vega 64.

Also did anyone see mention of which revision of the 64 chip it uses?
