The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

I find this completely ridiculous, you should warn someone that they will get suspended before actually doing it, and if the rules "accidentally are deleted" at the beginning of December, then even more reason to verbally ask to remove the swearing before just suspension as there is no evidence that he has even broken a rule!!
Not very customer friendly, I mean at the least just edit the swearing as a mod and then warn him to not ever do that.

What are we? a bunch of stuck up gentlemen from the 1950's .... I'm 37 and i find this attitude disgusting towards a member that was just very very very happy with a product he BOUGHT from THIS company.

I gotta agree, I didn't see what was written but doesn't it get automatically starred out anyway? It used to, Has this changed with the newer forum then? I wouldn't know my self as I'm never naughty. :D

Can I still say Fiddlesticks?

Yeah it didnt help him when people with nothing better to do report his post to bring it to the attention of mods before he could correct it.

No christmas spirit in here! :(

automatically starred out anyway

No, it wasn't automatic, but they did amend their post. It's a shame but on the internet there's always going to be conflict between forums that aim to cater for a wide audience and individuals who don't see the need to respect particular items of etiquette. At least they have a decently performing graphics card to console themselves with!

IIRC it was about an hour an a quarter, so a mod would likely have noticed by then. Several people warned him, but he had a "I should be allowed, so I'm not changing it" attitude that never flies around here. It is what it is, just a shame the rules have disappeared so you can't educate people on what is the expected minimum standards of behaviour on this forum. We're not Mumsnet with all their gratuitous swearing.

alas poor yorick I knew him well, banned for a thousand years hopefully not :p

To test somethings with my PSU, I tried an undervolt, and I ended up with p7 -1700 MHz / 1180 MHz @ 1070mV/ 950 mV and it's totally stable. I tested this once in Superposition (and people can try this), I got a difference of only 0.8 fps going from my stock to undervolt, BUT, ended up saving about 120W ( i.e avg consumption in AC:O = 190W (stock is about 280-290W) (WTF IS THIS SORCERY, with a rare peak of 215W) ), other games I've seen going upto 230W.

Did I just get lucky here?

To answer the original post, AMD is well known for making tunable stuff. In this case its undervolting, some were disappointed it couldnt goto 2000mhz or something extreme but its often the case AMD doesnt stay stock for long.
Near 1.8ghz seems to do a lot for performance, I think its needing water for that. The card is overspec for me on 1080p so I dont need to do that, the undervolt is useful. If they move to 12nm it'll probably be quite a big switch I guess

He definately did not say he should be allowed i'm not changing it, he declared freedom of expression, but like i said he had no forum rules to refer to ....

He actually said :-

I get your point definitely, I'll edit my post. Didn't expect something like that to blow up for no reason lol, it's not like I was rude towards other members or even their hardware which IMO would be the right grounds to initiate any action. Looking at my post history would itself validate my usage of that word. That's my only point.

But after typing this he got suspended anyway, hence my post about this being ridiculous.

I remember a typo last month where someone wanted to type clock speed but typed **** speed.
(obviously referring to the male chicken, don't suspend me)
I don't see where the line is drawn, and If i was that guy that was suspended i'd probably be annoyed enough to move my 1000£ + a year spend of pc parts to a different company for this type of thing. But that's just me (and not only me, so mods, YOU be careful)

*Edit, and for all your information, it automatically starred ** my bad word... so this was a forum error not his.

So, a few months down the road from release, is everyone still enjoying the card regardless of all the haters and Nvidia users saying this card is trash?

Personally for me the card has been and still is a real joy. I'e backed down from sky high overclocks now and just enjoying stutter free no nonsense high fps gaming. Such a shame the price of this card is where it is today, I wish more people could get hold of it.

The card is amazing, but the price and availability is the massive huge monstrous problem, can't skirt around it.
Nvidia users and people in general have a right to be disgusted with these issues. It could have been a golden dawn for AMD if they kept the prices at £389 for the 56 reference and had the stock ready, because the card can hold it's own.

but sadly something was wrong with the business men at the top (as always) (probably reptiles)

iam more than happy with mine still, glad to have freesync back.. i do not miss my 1080 at all.

also glad i didn't wait for the non reference and the shocking prices that come with them.

Yes I'm delighted with mine and I too just run the occasional benchmark now after every other driver update just to see if there have been any improvements. I've settled on 1702/1150 and 1752/1215 with HBM at 1075 for everyday gaming. My only slight criticism after coming from a Fury X is that it is a good bit louder than the Fury X and I still think putting the tubing for the all in one system at the front of the card was a bad idea - it looked much neater coming out the side of the card like the Fury X - but then the card is significantly longer than the Fury X so perhaps that wasn't a practical option. Never the less, I'm a proud owner and still gaze admiringly through the case window at it.

Apart from a few days with the 17.12.1 Adrenalin drivers where things weren't working that great, I have been enjoying this card a lot. It's so much better than any of the reviews say. I upgraded from a 1070 and I don't miss it at all. Going by reviews I wasn't expecting much improvement, especially in VR, but, I was very happy to discover that it easily outperforms the 1070.

My card is now setup for 24/7 gaming. It's barely overclocked, but is using a lot less power than stock settings and despite this, performs way better.

So yeah. I am very happy with the card and very lucky that I got it at such a good price from Nashathedog.

It's not trash but let's not fool ourselves over the lies, the delay the cancellation of big Polaris which they sidelined into the Xbox one x. The stagnated architecture and progress generally from Tonga and Fiji is dire. VEGA and Polaris really is just Amd's late to the party Maxwell. It's close to everything I predicted before launch that came true.

My V64 in situations surprises me with how minimal the powerdraw is and for the price I paid 459 with 2 games was brilliant.
Performance Is allright at 1440p and the fan noise isn't too bad when tweaked. You have to be absolute bonkers to support the Vega AIB prices when they are this late.
I'm pretty happy with my purchase but AMD have a serious amount of work ahead of them.

I do envy you guys. I've been waiting on Vega for a long, long time, but I wanted an aftermarket cooler, as I'm not going to put up with the stock cooler and the noise from it. But with poor availability and the subsequent big jump in price, it's just not a practical purchase at twice what it should be, and without reaching the performance of the competitor 1080. Vega has taken so long to get here, and with so little availability, I can't see prices going down until Navi is almost ready to arrive. Even now, AMD are still trying to sort out drivers to extract performance that should have been there a long time ago.

I might as well forget about Vega, because I'm not buying one at £800.

That certainly makes it a win for him :D
