The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Hey AMDMatt, Running Dec 6 2017 drivers... Windows 10.... Playing PREY.. LED Tach just goes to half lit, solid..

Anyone else ever get that? Running 17.12.1 but its been doing it since October 17.10.1.

Another few questions- Which I wish AMD would confirm or deny either way... Will Vega 7nm be able to "Crossfire" with the 14nm versions since all the 7nm versions will be are die shrinks? Its kinda sad you can't even get a water cooled RX Vega 14nm anymore unless you pay $1200-1500. Which leads to the 2nd question.. Has AMD halted production of reference water cooled cards or not?

Weird, i have Prey so i can test this but i will need to download it.

Try pressing Alt+Enter to switch between fullscreen modes and see if that kicks the GPU in.

I don't have any information to give about future products. AMD doesn't manufacturer graphics cards, our partners do (we just send them chips) so i would recommend checking with them. Based on available stock, it would look that way.

I am running it in full screen mode. I am downloading 12.2.17 now to test and see whats up with that. Also, it may only do it with a "custom" clock profile. When playing Prey, GPU clocks hover around 1,2-300Mhz and HBM2 hangs out in the 600Mhz zone. I game at 1080p. Which this card is total overkill for but I use 100W less power than an RX 580 gaming so I can't complain.

Its alright. My CPU side source is asking RTG whats up. Should know by Friday evening. I am just shocked at the prices. Glad AMD decided to drop the price on TR though. If they can get their X1900 into the same price point as the 1800X or maybe $50 above it..

My rig is going on 3.5 years old. Its gone through 4 GPUs.. (HD4850, HD5770, GTX 780Ti and now RX Vega Liquid). So hoping the demand drops or supply goes up so prices come down to reasonable levels again soon.
 
Has anyone got some advice on a stutter issue I'm having. I've narrowed it down to what I think may be a slightly unstable cpu OC during games and even just listening to music I get a small stutter where the music hangs for less than a second and does it maybe 2 or 3 times then might be good for an hour or so and is hard to consistently replicate. I have an 1800x at 3.9ghz at 1.35v any ideas or experience with the same issue. It's that fast that I noticed no visual stutter just audio

Try disabling HPET or removing all overclocks (bios defaults) and see if you still get the stutter. That should narrow it down.

Just re-installed Prey yesterday, I'm having no such problems, all I did was go to the "game.cfg" and remove the FPS limiter (which was for some reason set to 60fps, you should check whether that's the issue), got my XR341CK locked to 72fps, made a custom Radeon settings profile for Prey, made it x64 Tesselation aswell as Enhance the game's AA w/ Supersampling (none of this seemed to make a difference in-game weirdly), my card runs fine on my 1700 MHz @ 1130 mV Undervolt.
 
Hey guys, I'm unable to enable HBCC segment for some reason. It worked before on all drivers, no idea what's happening.

Usually what happened is, as I enabled HBCC and applied, it would give 2-3 black screen flashes and restart, and upon restart HBCC is enabled.

But now, after restart it still is not enabled. Could really use help here.

It worked when I used System Restore and went back to an older image, so there's no problem in the hardware, what should I do here? :(

This is easy to fix, take out the graphics card, draw a pentagram on the floor with 5 candles on each corner, place the vega inside, chant "harech machem diabolus" 3 times and then crush 3 spiders onto the top of the gpu.

When the fire dies down wipe off the ashes from the fan on the cooler and place back into the pc and viola! the hbcc will be enabled

I understand this is supposed to be in-jest, but apart from the 'satan bit' didn't really get the joke.

Also I just kept enabling it and restarting PC till it finally accepted.

This proves that Pentagrams and Harech Machem Diabolus is not the only way to go. There's that not-so-explored road, of peace and harmony. The road that leads to our salvation, re-defining every moment of history. Defying Conventions.

I was just in a silly mood that day sorry hahah

My point was that the vega is a strange card that probably would respond to black magic, as the problems and bugs associated with the card are akin to something unknown and mystical.

I am 100% of peace and harmony don't get me wrong, I have seen things that have defied reasoning and that is what caused me to align myself correctly thereafter.

One of these mystical unknowns is how a vega truly works and i find that in wattmatt i just turn off the hbcc then apply, then on again and apply, if this doesn't work i too have to restart the pc and then enable it.

Never played prey, but they took their information from somewhere way before it was in games.
Return to castle wolfenstein online however was my thing back in the day. But still nothing to do with what i was referring to.
There is a world out there that people joke about only to cover it up.

While on the topic I gotta say that seeing the Vega Red Devil hitting £830 was a shocker. (EDIT: It's gone up again to £900 :eek:) I also noticed that for whatever reason my RX480 Red Devil does not has a 5 pointed star on the backplate, The RX 470 Red Devil I recently sold has one so I was expecting one on the Polaris flagship as well.
