The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

So my vega card runs wonderful with my fans around 4000rpm.... My question is, is it perfectly safe to be running my card constantly at such a high rpm?

unreal this.,....the guy that bought both my 390's when I upgraded to Vega 64, today text me and asked me if I wanted to sell my V64 without the waterblock for £650 :eek: thats £200 more than I paid for it it brand new on day one lol.

I'm so tempted, but Freesync is to good and the only thing I'd consider replacing it with is a 1080ti :(

Keep it man, your system is purring along and you may only end up paying the same down the road for another! You're happy as Larry atm with your sys, why upset the apple cart? That is worth more than a little profit imo :)

I caved and bought the 1080Ti, but, that was last week, this week the 1080Ti prices have skyrocketed!! You would have to spend £200 to get a 1080ti.

Dang, those Ti prices have shot up haven't they?
Even more than a Vega 64 now, although they're probably better value for money. Not that I'd use that term to describe either of them really, but relatively speaking...

I guess Vega 64's have gone up because of mining, is their a coin that Nvidia cards mine well that's caused their jump or just because gamers can't get hold of AMD cards so they've turned to Nvidia?

Glad I'm not looking to buy now!
I guess this will impact RMAs too, companies probably more keen on giving refunds for purchase cost than replacing one of the top end cards now.

I would imagine the nV cards would be mining either Ethereum or Dashcoin, though I'm not sure how profitable either are. Ethereum might move to proof-of-stake soon and close off that channel of mining, which would be an interesting development.

Yeah, it's crazy!!

I think there are a few coins that Nvidia mine better than AMD cards and more people are beginning to realise that. The 1080Tis, 1060s and 1070Ti's are been sought after by miners. The 1080s aren't so good.

But, if you think we have it bad over here, you should see the prices in the States. It's madness!!

With CryptoNight mining the way it is right now the Vega64 is a better bet for mining that the 1080ti - ethereum is marginal but wins on equihash. Never try and second guess a miner's spending habits though.

Talking of spending....

I had a moment of madness and bought the EKWB Fluid Gaming A240R kit. I have to say that despite it being a complete PITA to fit in my Fractal Design Meshify case.... the performance is great. My little Vega64 isn't even breaking a sweat, even at +50% power limit. A nice cheap upgrade if you can't stomach the price of a full copper loop. The 240 radiator copes just fine - cool & quiet. Currently the Vega is sitting at max 22C idle but that says more about the weather and the temperature in my office than anything else. It peaked at 54C last night on a quick stock settings +50% pl test after the install. For those that are interested in such things the GPU didn't have the epoxy resin and I added a little line of thermal compound over the gaps to be sure (after removing the old stuff VERY carefully). I also used the supplied EK thermal pads and thermal compound (partly because I'm cheap and partly to see how the stock kit performs).

Still loving my reference "air" vega as much as the day I got it!

A 1080 Ti for £200, totally smashes the 64, and has more memory, id do it.

Well, it doesn't totally smash the Vega 64. I certainly haven't noticed a massive difference in any of the games that I play and then Freesync reduces that difference even more.

The only thing major difference that I have seen is in sound levels. The 1080Ti is much quieter. But, since Tony has a water block on his, noise isn't an issue.

I am not too sure it's worth the hassle. Especially since he spent money on a water block and then spend £200 more on getting a 1080Ti?

If it was last week, he could have got a good 1080ti for less than £100 along with the £650 he got for his Vega card.

wow that will be like a jet engine, i just run mine on balanced which max rpm is 2400.
If the fan at that speed keeps the temps low, the card will be okay... But the fan won't. At least, not if you run it at 4,000rpm over a long period of time.

I get around a stable 1560-1600MHz at these speeds with my card only ever reaching 80'C with fan at 3800RPM. I play with headphones on so I don't hear the GPU ramp up... Will this kill my fan fast or

I thought ther Ti was around 70% or more faster.

Pretty sure upon release, they were talking around 60-70% slower than the Ti.

Was it that far behind? Thought it was always around 1080 performance. I am just saying that I haven't noticed as big a jump in performance as I was expecting.
