The RX Vega 64 Owners Thread

Ah yeah, I don't touch RAM timings at all, I'm clueless at RAM tweaking. I set xmp 3600mhz and done lol.

Intel as AMD are greatly benefit with fast and tighten latency. Posted on the CPU discussion numerous times factual benchmarks.
Even the FlareX for Ryzen (3200C14) works wonders on Intel CPUs.

Have you tried to use the Ryzen DRAM calculator? If you use it to load your ram settings, you could set it to tell you some faster settings and you can always try.

FYI to everyone. Fallout 76 has some perf issues with Vega 64. Nothing to be scared of, even if upgrading to 18.10.2 doesn't work.
You need to find the Fallout76Prefs.ini and set the following.
iPresentInterval=0 (unlock FPS)
bFull Screen=1
bBorderless=0

After that the game runs at 178fps (so you need cap limit on drivers) with some dips to 150 at 2560x1440 on Ultra preset.

quick question hopefully someone can answer (amd's website isn't very helpful!), not specifically about an actual card - but the amd raise the game code. if I redeem the code myself do I get 3 separate steam codes for the games? wouldn't mind possibly holding on to assassins creed and selling the other 2 games on, though obviously not possible if it's just one code?

It's two Steam codes, and one direct referral straight to your Uplay account for Assassin's Creed. You never get a code for the Uplay game.
Ah ok. Not so excellent then. Was gonna pass the assassins creed game on to my brother and punt the other games on. Guess that can’t happen then if I ‘register’ the amd code unless I use his Uplay details.

You can either keep Assassin's Creed and sell on the two Steam games, or sell the whole package in the form of the AMD Rewards redemption code.

Both my Vega cards (reference and Nitro) the HBM is leveled to the GPU. Only some initial release Powercolor & XFX Vega 64s had the different elevation.

Of our two original reference 64's, the one that was bought a bit later had potted dies (and thus all dies had the same height), the other had not. The one with the potting and equal die height developed a problem and had to be RMA'd, the Red Devil that replaced it (less than half a year ago) has the dies without the potting around them and needed quite a bit of paste to get its block to cool it correctly.

So no I don't think it's the age that matters. It was my understanding that it was the GPU coming from a different fab in a different country that's the cause of the difference.

@Panos @TonyTurbo78 Well it passed at 1180MHz HBM, however temps were too high to give good results. Did manage an impressive 373W according to AB in Superposition though. Now all that's needed is some cool temps for some proper Benching. First time it's ever passed at 1180, so guess something changed in the drivers...

Good stuff mate :) These overclocks are not for 24/7 tbh, I prefer to stick to some mild tweaking over the Turbo settings (1100HBM, 1080mv P6, 1100mv P7 and 1692 clock)

Just did some gaming bench's with the "benchmark settings" and it was fine. Didn't get above 55C in anything and was rock solid...
Tested in Warhammer II and something else, can't remember the other one though...

PUBG will highlight if it's crashy though. Will test that later. (Actually anything UE4)
