The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

Not the greatest pictures, but recently had a couple more done:

My Les Paul - some of the lines aren't perfectly straight in this pic, but that was about 30mins after finishing. Once the skin bumpiness went down it looks awesome.

Cover-up of some Kanji, Eddie (Iron maiden) fighting Alien... this was half-done.

Not a great pic I'm afraid, but this was the finished Eddie vs Alien, with the background put in and the additional colour for Alien.

Next up is a complete back piece: based on AC - assassin fighting templar, with a battle and town in background, with an eagle flying towards the top.

Been wanting to get my leg sleeve for years now and i have finally took the plunge and made a booking for a concultation.

I am wanting a Japanese inspired piece with a few touches of myself in there. I have been looking for pieces to print out etc and take with me for ideas. You guys know any good gallery's i can look for a few more ideas?

So far im looking at either a Hannya Mask with 2 magpies and a few other things. Or a Foo dog instead of the Hannya mask with the 2 magpies and blossom etc.

I've got a couple of Hannya masks myself.

Pending on the artist they may wish to keep it within the style, so certain combinations of flowers & animals they may or may not do - for authenticity I was advised to have peonies & maple leaves.

The guy who did mine (Luca Ortis) is very familiar with the style & based in london.

So I had this done Tuesday, only just got a pic.

I would have liked the wings a little higher and the rear foot a little bigger to match the first foot but it is meant to be the Liverbird bought to life. It won't exactly replicate the actual clubs version obviously..

Yes I get most won't like it :D

Can I ask why you didn't stipulate that the foot be the same size?

That is potentially something you could come to loathe in the coming years, it would bug me a lot. A tattoo should be perfect with zero chance for regret.

Thanks for the reply. I want one just like this, on the black and grey scale but thinking the mask to be below the knee and the two magpies above. How long did this take?

My one took about 25 hours in total.

It's worth dropping a few artists who specialise in the style a few questions, as they should be able to advise you what will work.

Booked my first tattoo for next week, slightly nervous as the artist reckons it'll take around 3 1/2 hours to do, Should i believe what everyone says about tattoo pain?

Or just take my kindle and read while he gets on with it?

You'll be fine - mine took around the same amount of time (on my forearm) the pain isn't that bad I assure you. Look forward to seeing your tattoo when it's done :)

Where about's are you having it?

Its generally not as bad as some people make out. best way to describe it would be a cat scratch. But you just get used to it.. well, you will do after 3 1/2 hours! :)

Looking forward to seeing it! What are you getting?

On my left arm, bicep area its an angel somewhat similar in style to tyrael from diablo, will get pictures up when its done ..

It all depends on where the tattoo is.

Also having shading done is more painful because it's 6 needles instead of one.

My two sleeves were fine, but the one on my hand was more painful, mainly because it being boney.

Take a bottle of pop with you too.

Bicep tattoos can be painful, I have 5h on each bicep, towards the end when the skin gets really tough and stiff it can hurt a lot!

Moisturise a for a couple of days before, helped me the second time around.

Also take some ibuprofen before hand.

Get yourself some "Bepanthen" (nappy rash cream). If you use this for the first few days after your tattoo you will find it helps the healing process.
Warm the tube up in a cup of hot water first as it is quite thick stuff and then just apply a thin layer each morning. It helped my last one heal very quickly.

Just back from Sweden getting mine basically finished now up until the point of starting the next peice :)

Still very raw and very fresh.
