The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

I'm about to have my last tattoo session to finish off a huge peacock on my arm, I've already done four 3-hour sessions at £100 (£1200 so far) over the course of ~1.5 years.

My last session tomorrow I imagine will take 2 hours maximum.

My question is what do you guys do in terms of tipping? (if tipping at all?) Is £40 too little? As much as I like the tattoo to tip 10% of the total or something would be too much for me to afford..

Your thoughts appreciated.

Just booked my second sleeve to do done by Luca in London, going for a Namazu (Giant catfish) themed traditional sleeve to go with my Hannyas.

I tipped my guy at the end of the last session, I got him a nice bottle of Whiskey (prefer it to monetary tipping).

Been in progress for a while now. Finally finished. A tribute to my late Grandfather.

Done by my oldest friend, Alastair Barnett at 72 Street Tattoo, Stoke on Trent.

Here is a link to his Instagram page:

Argh I really want a tattoo. If only I could draw, it would incorporate hops, a jesters mask and a compass. But alas I can't draw and don't really fancy a design of someone else on me.

Hi guys
Not posted in here before as I hadn't had a tattoo before yesterday. There are some great pieces in here so wondered what you thought of mine:

Please be gentle, it's my first time :p

Not seen this thread for a while :/

Had this done a few months ago now, the lines ARE straight, this was taken as my skin was still sore and swolen...thinking of a full geek wow sleeve >_<

I like the look of the Nordic ones. I have a tribal style on my arm and shoulder that needs rejuvinating and I might just get a full cover up of it.

Does anyone know of any good artists in London that do this style? or am I flying to copenhagen for a few weekends next year.

Fly to cph :)

I had to pass through CPH to head upto Helsingborg sweden for my ink, great, great countries. Made the experience of getting inked a lot more interesting and fun.

Nordic ones are great, some I'd have if I hadn't already picked a style (don't like mixing personally).

Last time I checked I wasn't able to find any great artists of that style domestically, but there may be some out there.

Personally, I'd take the trip - going with artists who are already known/respected & from the region the style originates would add a nice touch to the whole thing.

Got a 5 hour session myself tomorrow in north London for my second sleeve (well, to start it), also get to get my elbow on the other arm touched up (boy fun! - more elbow work..).

Thanks kindai and elmarko. I was thinking it would be good to make time for the trip over there. I need to send them pics of what I have on the arm at the moment and see what they can to do with it.

I am not a major stickler for the exact design, I will let them know what I like and they can just have a go.

I live next door to the tattoo convention venue in London so if they want to use me for a full arm back cover up job for a discount price I'll be happy.
