The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

As annoying as the wait can be, that's usually a good sign that the artist is respected & is able to generate enough demand for his work.

The kind of artist you can walk in off the street & see isn't the kind you would want to do a full sleeve.

Theres another what appears to be good tattooist who is booked until May and considerably cheaper, decisions.. As you say i want the right one for the job!

edit: booked in for a consultation with the the woman who is booked up until May she charges £60hr which is considerably cheaper and judging by some of her work she looks really good. Will see how the consultation goes and probably book in for May.

Anyone recommend a decent tattoo artist for a sleeve, all black and gray no colour. I have quite a wide array of places I can get it done, London, Brighton, Essex (doubt it), Nottingham or Lincoln. Just don't know where to start really, price doesn't bother me, after all why would I want to cheap out on something that's for life. Just want to know of some decent artists not bothered about a wait either. Appreciate any help. :)

About 2 hours left to go on this one (the flowers!).

My guy who did the above is from London, he obviously does sleeves but pretty much exclusively in the traditional Japanese style.

Ay, my second from him.

This is my other one.

Depends on the style you are after. Most artists Specialize in certain areas jap/trad/neo/realism/dotwork etc etc etc

Justin Burnout in Nottingham is good with black and grey. I think he works at ghost house now he does some amazing script

google brings up all his work.

Chris Crooks is a wizard, would love something by him. Luca Ortis too.

I've got a sleeve by Mirek Vel Stotker... can't get a good picture, but it's got a few more hours to go until it's finished. I'm booked in with Mat Lapping for a piece in October too.

Thats some lovely traditional Jap, where are you getting that done?

I'm still on Chris Crooks waiting list, had to move my appointment back by 9 months due to financing!
Luca Ortis, Stoke Newington in London.

Great guy who has some great ideas, good if you like an artist who you can trust to make the entire design pretty much (Based off a few ideas).

I'm thinking of getting a simple phrase tattood on my leg. Just a few words in black. It will be my first tatto. For something so simple does it matter too much where I go as long as I can see similar examples of their work beforehand?

Yes simple tattoo or not. you can stil get bled lines / blow outs and in my opinion it looks even worse on script you want it as clean and fresh as possible

Good point. Thank you.

I will start doing some research but if anyone has any recommendations for tattoists in the London, Surrey or surrounding areas then it would be appreciated.

Hi all - not sure I want to show of my tattoo in this thread, as I am currently deciding between either lasering it off, or a re-design.

My problem is that it's the Japanese symbol for Music (like - this - but not as skillfully done) and it's on my shoulder, so I'm not sure there's a whole lot of scope for a re-design that isn't a huge amount of black on top of this? I don't want a sleeve, but is there anyone that I can contact for ideas on if it's feasible to re-do?

I'm based near Leicester, if that counts for anything - but happy to travel for a decent 'fix' (and assume I could exchange emails/calls beforehand on any redesign)
