The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

Prowling this thread for sleeve ideas which i've been wanting for sometime but now im going to put it in action.. some good stuff in here!

I've half way through my second traditional Japanese sleeve myself, I've gone for a specialist in the style - Hannya masks on one arm & Namazu on the other.

Do you have any tattoos already or is this your first one?.

Would be my first mate.. I've taken a few screenshots of bits I like from various places will speak to a artist and see what they can come up with when I figure out where I want to go. Struggling to find what I really want on my upper arm, some skulls look awesome as part of a Sleeve but still looking for ideas.

Had mine done last month :)

Have a look at a few of the traditional styles first.

50's Americana, Nordic, traditional Japanese - the advantage of these is they are essentially timeless (never in or out of fashion) & will also be more likely to look palatable when you get older (at least in my view anyway).

Skulls can work, but as a warning a few my friends who have had them regret it, as they came to think it was 'too dark' for later in life once they had moved on in life - just a consideration. Personally I avoid any bands (may end up as paedophiles for all you know) things with transitory meaning (what you value today will most likely not be the same in a few years).

Anyway, enough rambling from me, good luck with what you find.

and then when you all age abit you'll be like " wtf was I thinking getting this done " . get a stick on tattoo if its a must..... at least when you get bored you can remove it ;).

I have a idea for a tattoo, could someone advise if this is a good idea for a tattoo?

Its the image on the back of my favourite album, "Red" by King Crimson.

Would this make a good tattoo? Is it too dark for example?

Thanks.

It wouldn't be an exact copy of that image so it doesn't matter if it's too dark, the tattooist will advise you on what he thinks is best. :)

As annoying as the wait can be, that's usually a good sign that the artist is respected & is able to generate enough demand for his work.

The kind of artist you can walk in off the street & see isn't the kind you would want to do a full sleeve.
