The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

Had this down over two weeks ago now. New shopped open about a 10 minute walk from my house. Really good prices, around £40 an hour. I wanted a really colourful piece. I like the look of swallows, but to tie in with my other tattoo, I need to add an element of death to it.. so here is what I had on the back of my right arm:

It's a dead swallow thats been impaled by a banner. The banner is also wrapped around it's wings. Just landed in a pile of leaves.
 
So I'm getting my half-sleeve started on Tuesday. In for 3 hours and it's my first tattoo. What should I be eating/doing beforehand? I've heard different things about what to eat before etc so I'm after some general advice.

Also, post-tattoo care, what should I buy/use to look after it?

2nd session on my sleeve, this bit isn't quite finished yet the horse shoe and mic need all the shading etc done to them.

I know someone who has a smiley face on one knee and a sad face on the other one.

Some people are light hearted and just get whatever they want tattooed on themselves, good on them I say haha.
