The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

was japanese writing i got mixed up, and ive looked on google translate and its correct to be fair the lady did use two websites to make sure i know its not everyones cup of tea but im very happy with it and thats all that matters for me. im toying with getting a cross put round so the my name is on the inside of it as my next one or maybe keeping the japanese theme?. but im saving up to get a grim reaper on my other underside arm, i want it quite big so it might be pricey.

as i say this was my first so i wasnt too keen on getting one too big as everyone ive asked says getting one hurts a lot but i didnt find it too bad tbh i guess it hurts in more sensitive place's

Has anyone got any sleeve tattoos that they can post up?

I'm thinking of getting a sleeve done (not tribal) and just wondering about ideas. I don't currently have any tattoos, but I was thinking of starting off small and then gradually extending it, as I don't want to go all in and have it all done (as its costly, and it'll probably hurt for the first time haha)

I like the ideas of coloured tattoos (not too bright) and something that would look good. I've been looking for ideas, but just wondering if anyone has a sleeve and they wouldn't mind posting a picture(s) up :)

Much appreciated.

Maybe browse tattoo sites like BME for references? (Or even search Facebook for the tattooists you like). They have thousands upon thousands of pictures split up into their own separate categories. Black and Grey, Animals etc etc. Making it easier for you to find what you're after.

I see you're from the Midlands so check out too; http://modernbodyart.co.uk/

Cheers for that :)

I'll have a look now.

I assume you've excercised some Google fu with stuff like "tattoo sleeve ideas"? Theres a funk tonne of ideas there. Before doing that though you might want to just look into the different styles of tattoo and pull a few ideas that you can put together yourself?

Yeah, I've been looking on Google, and getting a few rough ideas of things that I like, and seeing if it would work together with other things and that :D

There's quite a few nice ones out there, sleeves and normal. Which could work together, but I think for my first, it's best to get a small-ish one right?

or find a tattooist that does freehand. they will normally sit down with you, you tell them the stuff you like and they can do some designs for you.
it really doesnt hurt (well none of mine did) so i wouldnt say go small for that reason. just remember, a tattoo is for life (well mostly) so if your unsure, go for small and subtle and see what you think, dont want to end up regretting it.

That's what I ended up doing with mine, I didn't really set out to have a half sleeve, it just evolved that way. If you look a few posts up you'll see what I mean ^ I started off with the medallion in the middle, then the spikes, then filled around it, and finished with the serpent on the inside.

I've considered extending it as well, but the spikes seem like too much of a defined end to carry on.

That's a good idea, I might do that, then it's more specific on what you want rather than going on another peoples tattoos (Although, I would probably take a few designs as a guideline).

Where about do you have yours? I was thinking of getting my right arm done, so it shouldn't hurt too much?

Yeah, I'll be looking for about a month or so and contacting a few artists to make sure I'm set on what I would like, as you said it's for life (pretty much) and I want it to be perfect. :p

It's entirely up to you, but sure a small tattoo is probably the best way to go for your first. Get a feel of the pain and see if you even like the idea of having tattoos.

Once you have an idea (no matter how small), finding the right artist is the most important thing. It's their job to make things fit and work well together so they'll be able to feed you advice on that.

i have 1 on my upper left arm, and then one on each of my inner arms. will take some pics when i get home. they are just small tribal things, but i liked them at the time. i regret them now though. but not because i got them, but because i wish i had waited and got something bigger and better, they are kind of in the way now to do anything with

and remember, tattoos are hugely addictive. once you start, you will be covered (money permitting)

What may not hurt for one person, may be the worse feeling in the world for another. :p

You really aren't gonna know until that needle hits you. You'll be fine though!

this. i was lucky, where i got mine done they had dvds on, so i just sat there watching a film whilst they did it. didnt really notice it to be honest.

Yeah, I don't want to go too small as it might look strange, but I think to get a real feel for it, I would have to get a reasonable size.

Yeah, I know there's quite a few tattoo studios around where I live (Worcester) but I'm not sure they're that good, I think I would have to go on reviews, and possibly visiting the studios.

I know my Uncle has a lot of tattoos and they're of good quality so I'll probably ask him where he gets his done.

I think once I'm set on what I want, it'll be easier in deciding whether to go full sleeve or half, I think a lot of half sleeves look pretty good, (Like Apple_Fictor, as his is something different, but still stands out.)

I would probably like a full sleeve, but it's just whether I find the right design and tattoo I would like to fill my arm.

The artist, does the tattoo to size, if I'm correct? As I haven't got big bulky arms, but I haven't got skinny arms :p

Sorry about the double post :p

I don't mind tribal, as some of them look good. But I don't think that's my style and I would prefer something more artistic and that would stand out.

I've heard that from quite a few people, where they get their first tattoo, and then they're back for more :p

That's true, I just need to man up, when I get one done. There should be plenty that would occupy me and seems like it shouldn't hurt too much.

Yeah, that's perfect. As long as you're pre-occupied with something else, and are not focused on the pain then you'll be fine.

Ask around, ask your Uncle, friends etc. I'm sure, off the top of my heard that there are a couple of decent studios in Worcester! If not, going to Birmingham will probably be your best bet.

Yeah, I think my Uncle goes to Birmingham to get his, but not too sure.

I can only think of Rings and Needles off the top of my head in Worcester.

I had nothing to keep me occupied whilst getting my sleeves done, only other people to look at. Most of the time I was just sat watching him tattoo me, which made it a little harder but overall didn't really hurt.
