The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

I've always liked the idea of getting a tattoo, but I can't really think of anything I'd want on my body for the rest of my days. There are some really good tattos in this thread, I'm interested to hear what do they mean to people? Why they got that tattoo etc?

My upper arm had elements of my family crest in it and it was incorporated into a badass drawing by my tattoo artist.

My lower arm is just a piece of art I thoroughly like, no meaning behind it.

Tattoos don't need a meaning to them, it's just a different way of collecting pieces of art from different artists.

Powerful Sam Ricketts. Instantly knew it was his work. Nice!

He's got a very distinct look about his work and I've been meaning to get something by him for a while. Found out on Friday night he had a cancellation for tomorrow so I jumped at the opportunity!

Here's one I got done earlier this year:

And this is the latest one. Not finished as there's more to go underneath. Which will be done next week. Bring on the pain:

And please elaborate as to why YOU think I need help? I'm a geek. I'm a Superman and DC Comics fanboy. Please, enlighten me.

It's one thing to be a fan / geek / whatever, but this is on a whole new level mate. In my opinion, I see this as heavily detrimental to a normal life. I worry why a man of 32 feels the need to immerse himself so completely, and to physically mark themselves in such a way with stuff from a fantasy comic.

If you haven't to spoken to someone already about why you feel the need to escape so completely from your real life and transport yourself to a fantasy land, I would suggest you do so.

I'm not having a go whatsoever, just genuinely concerned as your behaviour is not usual. It would be interesting to find out quite why you have latched onto a fictional, american cultural icon. I do strongly suspect it has something to do with your childhood, but only you know quite what.

^^^^

Bit harsh that. Anyone who has tats have what 'they' want, not what others would like to see.

I was jesting when i made my post above but wouldn't go as far as you have.

This is one of the most ridiculous and un-thought out posts I've read recently. I think you need help as to why you feel the need to attack people for their personal choices.

One could also question why one would have such an interest to try and discern faults with another persons life. But then again I doubt anyone's so self-loathing to be bothered trying.

Personally I hate superman, but if it's something that he's doing that makes him happy it sounds great in my books!

Why is it ridiculous and 'un-thought out'? Anyone who becomes that fixated on a comic book superhero in my book needs help. As I say, I am not having a go, just honestly worried about anyone who would go this far.

I don't think there are any faults with him as a person, but I do question why this has all happened and how is has now seemingly taken over. I suspect something has happened which has made him retreat to the solace of Superman. I have no interest in pointing out faults in others, I have far too many of my own to worry about, but when I see stuff like this it does worry me, and I do believe the lad needs to talk to someone.

How is he fixated on comics? You are reading far too much into it.

I have arabic writing on one arm, and a nautical star on the other. Am I fixated with them? No. They just have personal significance to me.
