The Show Off Your Tattoo Thread

Did he keep the misspelt 'religion' too?

Nisi Optimum. Looks like yours says Optimom..

:o Oh SueBo... Where did you have it done?? Has nobody pointed out to you the misspellings? Try and find a good tattoo artist who may be able to put the missing 'i' at the end of religion, and slap the person who has marked you without getting a dictionary out first. And check your husband's tattoo too..... :(

Next Wednesday for my first appointment of many (getting excited now!) - going to be interesting to say the least for 6.5 hours for a first session ever.

Quick question, after having a tattoo would you advise against swimming or weight lifting for a bit (as it's across my arms chest) or will I be good after a couple of days?

Right, I contacted a tattoo artist a few months ago (just checked and it was Feb). We've been talking via email, I've sent him the pics that I would like the tat based on and he says he'll work something out for me.

I contacted him about a month ago to see of any progress but he hasn't got back to me. I don't particularly want to annoy someone who is sticking a needle into me but I'm getting pressured to take holidays at work and was wanting to get my tat done then.

Should I send him another email and hope he responds? Call the shop and ask to speak to him? Its a fairly big tat, will probably be a couple of hundred so it will be worth his time.

I've had loads of tattoos now and I always don't do any form of training for at least a week after. That's my personal preference anyway, some people train the next day. However I feel the length of time you're having on your tattoo is similar to mine so I personally would say give it at least 5 days, something that is going to last forever why risk it? I would also advise against swimming personally too.

Again there may be tattooists out there who know more that disagree with me but it's my own preference that I follow and all of my tattoos have healed up brilliantly.

My tattooist wouldn't even entertain talking with someone over mail/phone come down the shop, unless you've got a deposit with him? I'd personally pop down and have a word.

The only reason we've been talking by email is because he is a bit away from me. He was happy to do this. The plan was going to be when he had drawn something I'd go see it with the possibility of starting the tat then if I liked his ideas.

That's a fair one then mate, you know him better than us so I guess it's easier for you to gauge. I'd either mail saying you need to sort out holiday with work or just call him.

Your paying the man to do something for you, just get in contact with him. Just a note, artists usually wouldn't send progress of a design to you, other information i'm sure he'll be happy to tell you :)

Training doesn't matter, swimming is definitely a no go until its completely healed

Got a samoan tattoo on my chest while I was weight training. Make sure you wear a loose fitting tshirt or a very tight one as sweat + rubbing clothes will mess up the healing process (imo) make sure the scabbing isn't going to get rubbed off or irritated during the movements you do. Swimming = no. Chlorine would take off any of the protective cream (read: Bepanthen) and may mess with the wounds.

Cheers for the tips guys.

It's more that the bar may be resting on the tattoo for certain movements (back squats slightly, definitely front squats - I might just avoid those exercises for a short while then <shakes fist>.

It will be a shame to give swimming a miss, but I'd rather it heal correctly so that one get's knocked on the head.

How long does it take to heal?, as I've got sessions booked every 15 days for a couple of months - if I could I'd like to take a week to heal up, then a hard weeks training, another session - repeat till done!.

As it's 6.5 hours, 6.5 hours , 6.5 hours , 6.5 hours then 4 hours to make the 30 total (with 15 day breaks, it's going to take a while & didn't want to screw with my workouts if possible!).

Hard to say, depends on how much filling or line work is being done. Line work for me heals dead quick like 4 days. Filling takes a wee bit longer, usually 3 weeks for all the scabbing and white marks to disappear. As long as you add the bepanthen and treat it right it'll heal far quicker than not.

Finally got myself booked in for my next tattoo, after 10 years since the last one! After lots of research I have managed to book an appointment with Curly! :D

It's going to be a lower right leg piece, in a similar style to this lady's (Curly's Wife) right leg;

The appointment isn't until January due to his waiting list, but I'm really excited! :D

Cancelled my appointment. :(

But only because I'm going to get my sleeve piece first! :D Having laser removal done on an old one on my forearm first, so it gives a clean canvas for a 3/4 sleeve + chest. Hoping to get booked in with Jo Harrison sometime next year. :)

My favourite team and my favourite tattoo, got it done two years ago now for £55. Everyone says what a good colour the blue is, obviously my favourite colour lol. Its on my leg, my husband liked it so much he got the same one a month later on his arm (mine hurt more lol)

Sweet jesus. Why do people insist on getting such incredibly bad tattoos done? Do you not care about your bodies? Do some research on a decent tattoo artist, do some research on even the spelling at least. Christ!
