*** The SKY F1 2012 Coverage Thread ***

Red button will be coming to virgin in July! July that's like half a season away.

Boo! But then virgin are usually behind with this type of stuff, they first have to squabble with sky for a few months, and then squabble with themselves, and then send out information to customers before they actually start doing the said thing.

the BBC never put FP3 on iplayer though, it is annoying having to wait for the sessions to come back round to watch them again. but starting at 10:45pm tonight all the sessions are played back to back

They did used to put all practice sessions on iPlayer I remember watching them all on there whenever I couldn't be bothered to wake up to watch them.

Arknor all I have seen is highlights & extended highlights too.

Precious little post race analysis of the incidents again from Sky.

I don't mind interviews with drivers and team managers etc but sometimes it's nice to see the 'offs', some of the better passes and collisions again in slo-mo with a bit of analysis on what happened.

Recorded the race only to find out it used 20% space (on a 500GB sky+hd box), good job I was able to watch the practices and the qualifying otherwise I would have been out of space (too many other shows recorded). god knows what will happen if I have to record all the practices, qualifying, the race and the both gp2 races. It will be using well over half the total box space. maybe time for a 1GB box :)

One thing I've noticed with the Sky coverage is they love to replay the start way too close to the start. Replaying the start is fine, but it should be a bit further into the race when there isn't anything happening and the race has quietened down.

Errr, thats the world feed they are using. It's FOM thats replaying the start. The same as the BBC used and it happened then too.

Yeah the start replay has been from around lap3 for the last few years now on the world feed. I agree it's a bit too early though. There are still things going on from the cars being close together. Better to run it around lap 8.

Build up, grid walk, pre-race interviews = Sky coverage.

Everything after the FIA F1 logo/animation = FOM coverage.

It can work the other way though, where there has been an interesting start and then things settle down really quickly and we feel like we have waited ages for a replay of the start.

Swings and roundabouts.
