i have only 24-70GM, 100-400GM. debating the 70-200 GM .
Can't see why you would want or need it tbh. So little gap between 70 and 100 and the 100-400 is razor sharp.

That's why I have never bothered with the 70-200 plus I even have the 85mm to fill the small gap.

Only reason I can see for the 70-200 GM is if you need the f2.8 for sports

It's not that heavy at all. It tends to be the lens most often on my body and I have a great shoulder strap for the camera. I have walked around taking wildlife and birds for hours with it no problems

Pana moz are ace. My last lens got held up for two days in UK customs and they gave me £20 per day refund for my inconvenience. Wish it had got delayed 20 days now

Did you order from Pana moz?
No they don't have stock and don't know when they are getting them back in, ordered from instashot-store, not heard of them before but seems to be the same sort of setup and they have a good rating on TrustPilot (plus credit card used). If they can't deliver by mid next week I'll just order from the UK with next day delivery.

I went for the 70-200 gm over the 100-400 for some reason and the 70-200 has been my most used so far and I was tempted to order a 100-400 for the extra reach. Tried the 1.4x TC but not convinced. Today I went out with the sigma 150-600 and don't think I'll bother with the 100-400 or keep the TC.

I went from the sigma 150-600 to the Sony 100-400. The sigma is a great lens but it’s HUGE and heavy. Plus I think the Sony is sharper, focuses quicker even with the 1.4tc.

But yes, I can’t really see the point anybody having both the 70-200 and 100-400. It’s either or in my books.

One has aperture advantage, the other has double the reach. You take you choice based on what you are shooting.

I still kept looking at the 100-400 but bought the sigma and 1.4x Tc first to see if either would save me another £2500.
The sigma is sharper than my 24-70 gm and the 70-200 gm with the TC. As for focus speed, the only thing I haven’t tried is bif but yesterday I used it from 300 to 600mm, never missed a shot and it was no different to my other lenses focus speed wise (it was poor before the updates though). Yes it’s heavy but I got the sports version with sigma TC for £500 so it’s saved me a few quid. The mc-11 came bundled with the A7Riii too so it’s a cheap combo for the amount of use it will get. By the time I sell on the TC it will be a £350 lens and I now can’t justify the extra for a 100-400 over that.

Which sigma lens are you referring to when you say it's sharper than the 24-70GM?
I've seen your shots of the lions and they are very impressive, the updated firmware on the MC-11 seems to have worked well, what focus mode were you in? I wasn't aware that you were using the Sport version, I had been using the Contemporary on the A7R3 and I was unimpressed.
