The tesco value thread

Geek!

I might try a value shop next time, see how it goes.

:D

Do it!

The wife normally tries out the odd value stuff here and there, most of it is pretty unmemorable TBH. We mainly buy 'normal' Tesco and brand stuff.

value orange juice, wish they made value bottled water, lemonade price is stupdly low, but it's gross

wish they made value bottled water, lemonade price is stupdly low, but it's gross

they do:)
value water is 17p iirc, and so is value sparkling water

Perfect for the walk home after a heavy night out:D
Imo anyone who buys evian/mountain spring etc etc are idiots!! its just water!!

all tesco value fizzy drinks are rank.

they are revolting!

Forget tesco's go to morrisons if your on a budget. Always end up spending less than i expect their, other way around with tesco's.

Anyone remember the Parody Tesco value birthday card. I gave it to my mate once and he went ape **** thinking it was real :D

I did that with the Tesco Value Valentine's card that someone linked to on here, gave it to my best friend. She found it quite funny, but also said it was very sweet because it was the only card she got. I felt a bit bad after that, even though she wasn't annoyed at me at all.

Tesco Value garlic bread is good, and although they're not Value, Tesco mint chocolate biscuits are nice and quite cheap.

Coke > Rola Cola by the biggest margin possible, if that's re-branded Coke then i'll eat my own right testicle.

Agreed. No chance on earth it's rebranded Coca Cola. Just doesn't happen. Nothing like an ice cold can of proper Coca Cola out the fridge. One premium brand I'll always buy, besides there is always silly offers on coke :p

Tesco Value Nachos are good as are Asda's. About 18p for a packet. Taste fine to me.

This is the thing with the kind of discussion we're having here. On one side you get people who will defend the value brands, and on the other side you get those that will defend the premium brand, attempting to dispell the "myth" that they are repackaged premium brands.

When I was at Uni I worked at Walkers and at the time they made crisps for Marks and Spencer and although they came off the same production line at regular Walkers crisps, they were subject to a much higher level of quality checking at the end. There was a machine which scanned all the crisps as they went by on the conveyor belt and and anything with even a small piece of blackness on was rejected for M&S. Walkers allowed upto a certain percentage of blackness but M&S simply rejected it.

while i agree with most i have to say

heiniz baked beanz > tescos

the tesco ones have too much sauce

eidolon thats why m&s food is nearly always yummy, allot higher quality control and even the local fruit while pricey is hand picked from our local farmers and checked by hand to make sure its the best.

thats why its £1.60 a little bag :p

everything is great value at tesco for me

them missus works there and i get 10% off anything except fags, lottery and fuel

When I was a student I worked in Malton Bacon Factory, which basically supplied all major (and smaller) supermarkets with pork products. The only differences in the value range are that the cuts of meat don't make the required weight limits to be included in the 'normal' range. Other than that the only difference is the label.

Not sure what department you worked in there , but I worked in slaughter department and butchery department and I can assure you there is a big difference with the meat :o

I worked at Sara Lees cake factory when I was at college.
We made Sara Lees brand stuff and most supermarkets own brand, M&S was the best they wouldn't have margarine, only butter and no E numbers. They used to come down and inspect the factory to make sure it was spotless, no other supermarkets were bothered.
When they came off the line they got seperated into different grades depending if they had a cherry out of position for example.
I always thought if M&S were like this with us they must be like it everywere else, top quality.
