surprised Tesla haven't thought of doing their own insurance, could cut a rate and maybe tempt more sales.
link to the facebook group?Tesla insurance will come, still work in progress for the US and I suspect at least 9 to 12 months plus for Europe and UK. If they get the FSD computer running as musk hopes though it could further reduce minor accidents and so help reduce premiums. Still I'll be impressed when it can smart Sumon out if a tight guarage or car park consistently. Blue SR+ due first week sept for me. Insurance I'm still watching the Facebook group and will get quotes soon. Late 30s and 12y NCB it should be at the lower end I'm hoping.

A few calls this morning and some clarity on buying personally or via my Ltd.
Buying it outright- I can potentially apply for a Interest free 35k loan funded by Transport Scotland (an agency of the Scottish Government) via the business –
Spoke to a nice lady today who will put together a report confirming the potential savings in fuel over my current car. This will be with me on Thursday. If I wish to proceed, then she will send me an application form to complete for the business. (I can also do this on a personal level but don’t see the benefit over using the business)
So ultimately Standard model is £37,300 in round figures after £3.5k grant. I could fund this via a deposit of some amount and then business interest free loan (35k over 72 months is £486 a month or less depending on deposit ) – she estimates on my mileage of about 10k a year I would save around £150-£200 a month in fuel (personal & business)
Benefits to the business would be the write of 100% in year 1 (as I've bought it outright), if I then sell further down the line, some of that is clawed back into the business as a “profit”. So if I sell after say 4 years and it's worth £15k as a ballpark, that comes back in as a profit but i would pay off the loan with the profit thus negating much of the situation)
Initially a few months of 16% BIK till April 2020 but after that, very little. (0/1/2% for next 3 years)
Telsa qualify as it’s pure electric and my business qualifies as it doesn’t have an cars currently, and also has been trading for more than 1 year (for the loan)
Looks like a no brainer to me.....
how does insurance compare? knowing some of the off-the-line acceleration of the electrics I was wondering if they try and stick it to you?
I'm getting pretty jealous seeing everyone taking delivery or receiving delivery dates. I've had no communication from Tesla at all. After an email last week and a two hour wait on the phone today, I gave up - I went to the showroom to complain. Was told "it's on a ship and will be September" (!!!). I reserved a few weeks before ordering opened and was order number ~400 on 1st May with an estimated delivery of June... Funnily enough, someone who ordered on 8th May with no reservation has a delivery date for next Monday. That's one way to make me bitter
Hang in there Kemik - Tesla’s pre delivery experience is flat out bad and despite what some fanboys say there isn’t an excuse for it. I was a day one reservation and a day one order.
The car is incredible, quite a lot going on so it will take me a while to feel totally comfortable - the regen breaking in particular is quite jarring compared to a normal car - maybe it’s just my driving style.
Drove home in rush our traffic so didn’t get much chance to experience it’s speed - but from my limited experience it is very fast!
