The Tesla Thread

It's so you know the car is 'alive' and watching you. Or something... It also shows some graphic on the screen when it springs to life.
I knew about the HAL eye on the screen. I'd rather mine not draw attention to itself by flashing the lights. Still better than those 90s speaking alarms though, "Step away from the vehicle!"

I did see something appear on the screen, but went off before I could make out what it was.

Didn't realise this was a thing. :)

Just seen a 19 plate Tesla 3, Dual Motor on the boot lid.
Looked nice.

But the paint, never seen such bad orange peel to paint work....
Seriously bad, like seriously.....! I'd have rejected it based off that alone.

Any pics to share ? what colour was it ?

I've only seen white ones so far. I really thought that blue would be more popular than it is.

I wish that midnight silver was actually silver. I bet it would look great.

Reminds me of Phoenix Nights... "Get back ya *******, I'll break ya legs" :p

Picked mine up today - Black, no issues that I can see although it was chucking it down so ill have another look tomorrow. Lovely smooth drive and crazy fast when you want it to be.

Take a good look in sunlight. I fear that I am going to be forced to reject ours as the Orange Peel effect on the car paint is awful as was every other car I saw at Dartford today. Looks fine in overcast/wet weather but in direct sun it’s appalling.

What new cars don't have terrible Orange Peel? My brand new 330e was the same, didn't care so much as it was a lease but I was surprised. What's the usual course of action? Proper paint correction somewhere or respray?

Seen the new deals on this. £11k deposit (paid back by 100% corp relief), no BIK from April 2020, £500/month PCP through the books. Feels tempting and I never thought I would say that...

Two 2015 cars currently sat on the drive as well, both Orange Peel free from new. It's only "acceptable" as people don't see it or don't care. Certainly the chap collecting next to me yesterday looked at me like I had two heads when I told him what I was complaining about (after he asked) and his car as every other car I looked at (about 20) was as bad.

For me, I want to be able to clean, polish and wax the car and end up with a mirror finish, just like I can on the 3 cars we currently have, with the finish on this Model 3 it can never be done. It needs a full respray or given to someone who doesn't care.
