For anyone considering the same, rest assured that there’s no chance in hell that the plate is coming off in my lifetime. The adhesive on the back of the plate is very strong, plus the Velcro itself is a really powerful type.

I accidentally touched the edge of the adhesive of the strip to the plate whilst trying to align it and I had to pull it with a significant amount of force to get it off.

Yeah I had another test drive of a LR with the white interior.

I fitted the car seat after I had driven the car so I knew that the driver’s seat was in the correct position. There’s definitely enough space for my son behind me since I’m of average height (5ft 10”). He didn’t come with me so I don’t know if his legs would touch the back of my seat, but I’m sure he would. That’s no different from pretty much every car that’s ~4.7m long, apart from the Audi Q4 and ID.4 that I tested.

I do strongly feel like Tesla have altered the seat design slightly because in my previous M3P you could not put even your toes under the driver’s seat, but in the refreshed model you certainly can with the front seats in their lowest position. Jacking them up slightly makes enough space.

I have photos of the car seat installed if anyone wants to see them.

I'm 6ft3" and my 14 year old son sits behind me - he's 5ft 10" and has plenty of space...

That's only a shirt time though, although depends on the size of the child. My daughter used to sit behind the passenger seat in a 911 (from birth) till she was 4 without any issues. Was in forward facing from about a year or so.

Contract hire is the cheapest because you're tied in for the full term and never have the option to buy. I personally went for this option because I didn't intend on paying the balloon payment (I wouldn't keep an EV more than 4 years) and the PCP was crazy expensive.

PCP is more expensive because you can technically exit (hand the car back and cancel the finance) after you've paid half the value of the car. You are usually able to "upgrade" early using the equity left in the car (most PCPs tend to offer this in year 3, tying you in for another cycle) and you have the option to pay the balloon payment at the end of the term, if you want to keep the car.

Don't bother with the Tesla loan, I haven't checked but I would bet that you can get better rates on a loan online.

Lowest PCH for a Model 3 SR+ I can see is £18.5k for 3 years, and that is with only 5k mpa. The LR is £19.7k for the same deal 36 months with 5k mpa.

I'd say it would be highly unlikely that the SR+ will be worth less than £22k in 3 years, or look at ~£20k with 10k mpa, the LR is slightly harder to predict at £7,500 (to buy) more than the SR+, but only £1.2k more to PCH, or £400 per year it seems like a better deal if leasing one.

Work out the cost of finance, and your predicted TCO vs. hedging against price drops, and depreciation in a market that is changing to BEV's over the next decade, I think I'd buy in all honesty, especially if you end up not wanting to keep it after 12-18 months you'll be in a much better position.

Is this isn't always right though I find. Normally I find PCP can be cheaper because you're paying both capital and interest, depending upon the provider and contract length. Depending upon the market and used car prices you can be fairly better off.
 
Thanks for the replies guys. I’m edging towards pcp as I would like to purchase the car at the end of it tbh.

I may just wait for the model y though as I prefer the hatchback size boot rather than the saloon tbh.
 
It’s basically ready, they just don’t have the factory capacity to build it because EU model Ys are coming out of China instead. They are already delivering LHD in Hong Kong.

When production at Berlin starts we should see some movement.

I assume you mean RHD for Hong Kong as they are delivering these now to several SE countries.
 
I love this car.

Little things like getting in the car in the morning and having the sat nav automatically take me to work, is a welcome treat. Particularly with the live traffic info and the extra details like how much remaining charge I'll have when I arrive. Does it beat the info you get with Waze? No, but having it "just work" is a lovely touch.

Earlier, I had to nip out of to the opticians and the car read the content of the calendar entry on my phone and had automatically set the sat nav, before I'd sat down in the driver seat!
 
I’ve decided to go for the Model Y. I prefer practicality over other features of cars. It would be nice to have the boot space back as my current cars boot is very small.

It’s a shame as I’m ready to order the model 3, but I rather not rush such a decision if in the long term I’d become unhappy with it.
