The Tesla Thread

She's hassling me to research home chargers, any recommendations before I head off googling?

I have an Ohme, but the Ohme Pro seems a bit better. I guess some people will sight looks on certain chargers due to cables, but mine can't been seen so it makes sod all difference for me personally. What I would say is tethered is 100% the better option.

Update: my dashcam isn't working.

From Googling around it seems that other people have had the same issue and it always comes with the same two tell-tale symptoms. Essentially, the dashcam won't record when in drive and the cabin overheat protection is greyed out in the UI.

There are several threads on Teslamotorsclub and other forums where the car hasn't been marked as "delivered" on the back end system even though the customer service insist that it is. I've put the car in to my local service centre over the weekend who have told me they can't solve the issue locally, so they've escalated to a higher level of support.

You can sometimes get the odd software quirk soon after collection. My car did an update the first day I got it home. After that, it lost premium connectivity. It then came back but the screen still stated I had Standard Connectivity. I raised a ticket with Tesla and it was all resolved remotely after a few days. They had to do the same and escalate it to the Infotainment team for resolution.

That’s a good thing, means the cable has somewhere to go!
For a house with one charger, but have 2 of those on your house and they're unsightly. I was having the Andersen fitted but they're super expensive for what they are and much larger than they need to be.

Either way... probably best in it's own thread and not in the Model 3 one.

Anyone got any experience of sync ev chargers on a model 3 (or other models as well).

I have two installed here at work part funded by the Gov grant (at home I have a podpoint) They are sockets that I used my Lead with, they are in the most fine but I have had some issues with connectivity, it seems if they loose the connection to the network during charge they just stop charging and won't continue without a power cycle. If they can't get on the network when they start they are also ok but if they drop during charge they sulk. I've been in contact with the installation company a number of times about it and to be honest I think they need a wired internet connection as the GSM signal level is low where they are. I had no issue for 2 months then Wednesday and Thursday last week it was a sack of poo and dropped out loads of times.. friday back to normal, today the same with no issues. App is nice, boxes are small. My podpoint is tethered and has never been a problem.

So if you have a strong 3g signal they are fine but if your in the sticks then maybe avoid. I was going to email them my charge logs from last week and you've reminded me :)

Thanks for your replies regarding chargers. She's been doing her research too and decided on the Hypervolt 2.0

We're in the middle of a garage build and we have an electrician coming to wire it in a few weeks. So it seemed like a good a time as any to get a charger installed, even though the car won't be with us for 4 months.

Thinking of going EV and currently looking at the Model 3 Long Range. I note they Octopus previously offered 5p off peak kWh charging between 00:30-04:30. If switching to their standard tariff, do they still offer this cheap off peak rate?

  1. New software features (sync your profile to any vehicle)
  2. Price increases
  3. New colours spotted at Giga Shanghai

Yes they still do under the Octopus Go tarriff

https://octopus.energy/go/

Not quite sure what you mean by moving to their standard tarriff. Their standard tarriff by definition doesn't offer reduced rates at night. The go tarriff is designed for EV owners.

My bad, based on your question I thought you were asking if you could get the 5p rate on their normal tariff...

Just updated, good to see that scheduled charging, departure and off-peak charging is now in the app, not just in the cabin.
It’s something that most charging apps have now. To be honest; it’s best used in charging apps than in the car or joe public could use your charger at any time if it’s all done in-car.

The scheduled departure on the other hand is really very nice. My car heats the cabin and preconditions the battery before I leave for work
