The Tesla Thread

I think the main problem will be for people using the Model 3 as a taxi, or any sort of ride sharing. The door handle is so uncommon that I don't think many people will know how to open the door!

If my Model 3 was being used in ride sharing/uber then I would have a sticker/label right by the button on the inside instructing people to use that :p

I was thinking about the outside handle :)

There must be a safety feature that stops the inside electronic door releases being used when the car is in motion. I could say many people getting the door release and window buttons mixed up.

Ah right ok. I can't see it taking more than a few seconds to figure out though? Go up to it, not obvious, push the metal bit, see it move and figure it from there? :D

I assume if you aren't careful in winter when things freeze over that you could end up either smashing the window or damaging the motor just by opening the door.

I guess it's no different from a lot of convertibles?

I don't understand what that would happen?

The windows drop a fraction of an inch on most modern convertibles (or frameless door-equipped coupes) when you pull on the door handle, to retract them from the seals, so you can open the door without effort. If they freeze, they don't drop - putting strain on the glass, window mechanisms and so on.

Funnily enough, it was never an issue on my old Mk1 TT. Our Mk3 TT, however, was forever getting confused in cold weather (glass would stick, motor would pack up, wouldn't be able to get the window back up) and I'd continually have to pull the fuse to re-enable the mechanism for the frozen window.

Exactly what I would say. I know hardly anything about the app but surely (if not already there) they should add a scheduled pre-heat option?

If you know you leave for work every day at 8,you could schedule a pre-heat 30-60 minutes before that.

Seems like such an easy thing to implement seeing as they already have scheduled charging

Its already there I think?

I am sure I saw a youtube video of someone pre-heating and defrosting their car at home whilst plugged in so it didn't use battery reserve. Took it straight from the charger. Might have been with a different model Tesla, however.

It's probably already there :)

EDIT: Confirmed, can definitely preheat the car beforehand from the app.
