The Tesla Thread

Its funny, I had only seen one in Portugal for a long long time. Then in January I get an email saying that they now had 2 supercharging locations here in Portugal and released plans for 10 or so more. I now see Teslas almost every week! :p

In fact, I saw a Model X on charge yesterday and one this morning on my way to work!

I am aware that someone is going through the process of importing one and doing a road trip around Europe with it but I didn't think that was until March. It's the same person that just finished a lap of the USA and Canada with it.

Must be a different one.
 
I see Xs and S’s daily here. In fact there were two in the same small car park last week.

Not seen a 3 yet, guess not many people venture up here yet!

They are very very common around Oxfordshire and the M40 corridor past Wycombe and Beaconsfield into London. I commute down from Oxford into London daily and see so many Model S and Model X. I am surprised with the oil money up in Aberdeen that it isnt the same to be honest :)
 
Reminds me on my recent trip to London. Having told the wife about the Model 3 and the intention to switch to EV (which she is totally onboard with) we were on a bus in London which pulled up next to a Model S. The conversation went

Her "Is that one of those Tesla cars?"
Me "Yep, do you like it?"
Her "Yeah its nice...is that what we will get?"
Me "Heh, no no...the model 3 isn't out yet"
Her "Why not that one?"
Me "They're around €100,000"
Her "....ah"

Everybody drives Porsche 911s up here. None of that electric muck!

There's a few i8s, Tesla S' and X's knocking around here, but given the wealth here it's surprising there isn't more to honest. As I mention Porsche 911s are the standard go to "I've got money" car.
 
Not a word of a lie. The first time I saw it Tesla was still AMAGADAMAZEBALLS, my jaw nearly hit the floor. Must've been some government incentive or something.

Germany and Holland generally have expensive cabs though, the E Class was all the rage in Amsterdam only a few years ago.

Makes so much sense when you look at the total cost of running the car as a business.

Compare free or close to free charging to the price of petrol and diesel when you are driving the car for hours and hours a day. A black cab gets 20-25 MPG.

Lets not forget normal servicing like brakes and fluids what will need changing in an ICE taxi very regularly.
 
That Tesla Model 3 Road Trip Facebook guy You You has been messaged. Hes due in Portugal at the end of March (although my estimate is he will be here early April) I should be able to swing the day off and attend the meet. Fingers crossed for a test drive! Otherwise just a good sniff around the car!
