The thread which sometimes talks about RDNA2

This. It has always been rumoured that RT on the AMD cards would be better than a 2080ti but worse than a 3080. I would be happy with that in a card which without RT is faster than a 3090.

Even Nvidia cards arent ready yet for every game to be RT. Thats next gen or the gen after.
Yep. I expect the 6900XT to trade blows (win/lose) in games against the 3090 but lose in RT games. I would be happy with that but would like to see independent tests before parting with money.

She has a white digital piano - She has wanted one for a while and seen as im having huge amounts of deliveries I though I could sneak it through - It's massive and hiding it is somewhat of an issue. :) At the end of the day happy wife > new gpu.
Happy wife, happy life :p:D

I'm currently tempted to just blow half my GPU money on a perfectdraft machine and a few kegs, Set it up next to the PC and just keep enjoying the Vega 56 into next year.

Well considering the 5xxx CPU shipment has slipped to end of November for the "large order" of circa 500 units I wouldnt hold your breath for a 6xxx card. Everyones going to be mashing F5 again and large % being disappointed. More and more decided to keep what I have for now. The 3080 launch showed what is going to happen with new tech this year.

I'm also thinking the same. It's not like I'm going to be gaming over Christmas anyway so waiting until January isn't going to make much difference and at least then all these ****-shows of launches will have calmed down and I should be able to choose my stuff without having the indignity of either mashing the F5 button like a loon just to get through a checkout process or giving someone my money and then waiting 2 months.

I love my perfect draft machine those kegs don't last very long tho, especially when you are drinking out off 2 pint steins that they were giving away free last week when you buy 3 kegs :D

RDNA2 launch is going to be horrendous considering how much more work goes in to a GPU, and they're only doing reference cards at launch so if you want a proper AIB card, the wait will be much longer.

I don't generally buy tech on release day. I'll probably hang off until maybe closer to spring time or when stock stabilises a bit more or if something happens to my current card.

Ha, I was wondering how long they would last me or how many I should order!

Is there going to be much of a reason to go for a non-reference, beyond aesthetics and potential overclockability?

The reference 6800XT, I can only assume, is going to run pretty darn cool and quiet - it's a 2.7 slot, triple fan with lower total power draw than a 3080, which is a dual fan 2 slot design respectively, and is pretty darn quiet in its own right.

There will of course be better binned chips for some AIB designs for higher clocks, but I anticipate the reference design will be very appealing to many.

Haha I guess it was £1=$1 with £50 added on-top.

Guess I'll be missing the first batch then if that's the case. They should at least allow 24 hours before ordering goes live.
The embargo is up until 17th. Release day is 18th. Not certain about exact time of day but you will definitely have 12+ hours to watch review

Well it's rumoured that it's sapphire who's after designing the reference models together with amd. If it's true I can't see a reason to skip the reference cards. I'm sure the actual pulse and nitro+ will be even better but don't think you would see any flaws in referent design

AMD is targetting the same performance per watt increase with RDNA 3. Choo Choo

This came to light in an interview with AMD’s Executive Vice President, Rick Bergman, conducted by The Street, in which he was questioned about whether similar performance-per-watt could be expected with RDNA 3 (which will be AMD’s third-gen Navi cards).

He replied (bolding is ours for emphasis): “Let’s step back and talk about the benefits … So why did we target, pretty aggressively, performance per watt [for] our RDNA 2 [GPUs]. And then yes, we have the same commitment on RDNA 3.

It will be interesting to see what sort of peak wattage spikes the RDNA 2 GPUs get and the power draw when running full chat.

If it's done right then I can't really see a reason why not to, just depends on how well the review in terms of thermals and sustained boost. AIBs will probably boost higher and run cooler, but priced higher, and probably only in stock by 2022 with the way things are going.
