Somehow the rtx3090 which is known to be a bad overclocker is actually better at overclocking than the 6900xt - I've seen reviews from HU and Gamers Nexus now which showed this, the Nvidia card frequently gains 10fps (from 100mhz extra clockspeed) from overclocking while the 6900xt gains 3fps from overclocking (despite the 6900xt going from 2.2ghz to 2.7ghz for just 3fps gain) - seem the 6900xt has run into an architecture bottleneck where extra clock speed is getting bottlenecked somewhere else in the gpu.

The result is that the 3090 extends its lead over the 6900xt after overclocking both cards, I belive with the 6800xt it actually reduced the gap between it and the 3080 so the 6800xt seems to have more to gain than the 6900xt

something to work on for rdna3 suppose

6900 XT heat was unexpected (going on Jay's video). They also said they had to swap out the 1000W PSU because of overcurrent protection. That is nuts.

It's the power limit of the reference cards nerfing the performance. The custom boards are going to be so strong this generation, its making the reference cards look like paperweights.

The annoying thing is I still have the card showing up in the basket at AMD, even though you can't check out. The site should at least clear out the basket, or let me clear it out but it won't.

What a shower AMD is atm.

It's deliberate. They're mocking you (and me).

They want you to think you got really close, but they don't really want you to have it.

Lisa Su is basically the CEO of a trolling company now :p

I’d recommend checking other reviews before forming a complete conclusion.
Hey LtMatt,

How did AMD manage to so spectacularly **** up today's launch? Worse even than the previous attempts?

So many of us got to the payment page and then got told you don't ship to the UK any more :p

But if you had a special Discord link you could bypass the problem...

Great, that.

Yea, JayZ2Cents went from being quite upbeat about the 6800XT to being completely down on the 6900XT.

And this is what he did.

Took out all the 1080P and 1440P benchmarks, where AMD does well
Took out Firestrike from the synthetics benchmarks, where AMD does well.
Took out Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which was the only AMD title he had to start with, took it out and claimed it was broken.
Claimed it used far too much power despite it using the same as the 6800XT and much less than the 3090, claimed it was tripping his power supply which is a known problem with the Nvidia cards and not the AMD cards
Claimed AMD's drivers are broken.

And then concluded it was a bad card.

I think he Cucked to Nvidia, sadly.

Hardware unboxed seems a pretty balanced review and well worth a watch.

Oh it wasn't just me then. I after fighting many refreshes with my browser got a 6800XT all the way to the final step of pay and it failed on me. Not my money but AMDs crappy site. Gutted I am. £600 shipped too. What a shower. It's still in my basket now and let me go right through again only after I press pay it says sorry out of stock. It's just cruel.

"Selected shipping country is not available in this region. Please edit your shipping information"
That was the issue I got, they didn't have stock to ship for UK customers by the looks of it. Under £1100 for a 6800xt and 5900x in my cart couldn't finish cart either!

Had no problems with shipping was fine. Just that last pay now bit. Soooo close. I'm just having no luck getting anything this year. Even a ryzen 5600X I've bagged I forgot to change my billing address so that's on hold and I'm a bit doubtful they even have it. Such a sad state of affairs this.

Do we have confirmation of that? Cause the AIB 6800xt cards have basically the same max power limit as reference, so has AMD said they are allowing higher power limit for the 6900XT?

The last screen was what caused the issue, to reverted back to page 2 and that's where the message showed. You could force to back to page 3 and the same would happen. I got banned on my desktop, then phone (wifi) and data, then sons phone and the wifes laptop! Tried for 2 hours, what a waste of my afternoon!

re: powerlimit. if it’s the same deal as the 6800XT AIB versus reference it’s the reference boards TDP limit kicking in behind the scenes rather than just the +15% power slider limit. That’s how i read it from the Red Devil and Asus LC reviews.

i.e even though the Red Devil has exactly
the same +15% power slider limit, the extra TDP the hardware provides allows the chip a smidge more room over reference.

I gave up on his channel some time ago.
