Was still meh.
Now this original part by May when he did the top speed run in the SS, this really made the Veyron feel special and awe inspiring.
The Veyron was special and awe-inspiring. The Chiron is not.
The Veyron redefined the hypercar and what was possible. Everyone scoffed when it was announced and said it couldn't be done, but it was.
The Chiron is boring by comparison. The world has moved on in the last decade, as evidenced by the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and La Ferrari. Today it's about hybrid technology.
The Chiron looks like a dinosaur by comparison to these cars, a relic of a bygone age. If the Chiron was to be a true successor to the Veyron then it, like its predecessor, should be the ultimate expression of current hybrid technology. Instead it's just a facelifted and breathed on Veyron at heart. No one will be amazed by its technology or performance in the way they were by the Veyron.
I remember when the Veyron was launched and I was amazed by the statistics. Not just the speed but the details such as how long a tank of fuel or the tyres would last at full pelt or that they had to design new tyre valves as the centripetal forces were causing the standard ones to open.
No one cares about such stats on the Chiron as it's just the same again, plus a bit more. Harris tried telling us about how much air the engine was gulping and how the tyres had to be specially designed but all of this was pioneered on the Veyron. The Chiron is just the same again plus a little more.
It may look pretty but it's fundamentally dull compared to contemporary hybrid hypercars.
