The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

I have now watched more episodes of the new Topgear than i have The Grandtour....

Enjoying the new Topgear. Did the Grandtour ever pick up?
 
There were a couple of good grand tours, but i have to concede, i'm enjoying this series of top gear more than i did the grand tour.
 
I thought it wasn't too bad last night. Still think the star bit should be on extra gear. And it would have been nice to have had more stats on the Ducati and perhaps see it round the track.

I'm warming more to Leblanc as he's finding his feet. Harris I've always enjoyed and is also starting to gel.

Pacman was a bit meh, and whilst Rory is nice enough he still doesn't feel right.

It would have been nice to have seen a drag race with the Chrion and other Hypercars.

It was a good way to spend my commute.

Whilst TGT wasn't as good as it could have been but i still like those 3 baffoons.

I definitely think the producer(s) know what they're doing with Matt & Chris, the Chiron feature seemed written to manufacture a bit of bromance bonding for those two :p

I agree about Rory, he comes across as a bit more 'every-man' than t'others but they don't seem to be utilising him much.
 
Enjoyed this episode, PAC man was a bit crap but there will always be something that doesn't work brilliantly.

Very much better than TGT (which almost peaked at its opening sequence of the first episode and then never reached the same heights) I don't see TG failing as so many predicted.

On the other hand I wonder just how much future TGT has, I don't see it taking off over here at least.
 
I think I need to persist with this, I turned it off mid way through the 1st episode and have not watched it since, may have to iPlayer it..........

Is it worth it?

Definitely imo, it's not all perfect- what is? - but overall imo it's the old Top Gear more or less (great camerawork etc) as we know it albeit with new presenters.
 
iPlayer worthy for sure. Good for killing time. And you can far forward the crap bits.

TGT will also be successful. It is just different.

You either like Clarkson et al. Or you don't.
 
Personally I think they've nailed it this series. Much better than TGT and even the old Top Gear. More car stuff, less cringe-worthy staged fluff, presenters who are enthusiastic and likeable.
 
I've enjoyed every episode of this series. Yes they're trying to emulate the original trio but the content is genuinely good and the 3 remaining presenters are watchable and likeable. Even my wife who really wanted to hate it has watched every episode with me.
 
I really enjoyed the last episode, this new series is going from strength to strength. The presenters are likeable as well. The Bond theme was superb and very well done and I thought the pacman idea was really good and enjoyable to watch.

I've got a free prime trial at the moment so I've been watching The Grand Tour as well quite a bit recently and I must say I've never laughed so much watching Clarkson, Hammond and May, it's definitely gone more about them than ever before but it's ruddy entertaining, the two part Namibia special was superb TV.

Love both shows now and it's great that we have two great car shows.

Think that's the most important bit. Season 2 of New Top Gear has been much more enjoyable than I thought would be possible after last season. Dare I say it I actually like MLB as the presenter.
 
TGT will be better next season I feel. Once they work out what they can and can't do, what works and what doesn't.

This season of top gear is so much better than the last, Chris and MLB are starting to gel, Rory... not so much. I just find him a little awkward on screen.

I'm glad it's picked up though, the more motoring shows the better imo, even if it does take them time to find their feet.

What else have we got? More period dramas or soaps :p
