The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

Wasn't too bad a start, still found myself skipping the celeb section, I had hoped they'd cut it down this series but it still took up way too much time imo.

As a tribute to the V8, I think old Top Gear would have done it better... however I am warming to new Top Gear. Def better than GT.

I think I've decided my next car has to be a V8 before it all goes hybrid/electric. I've had two, but the next one needs to be a real monster. Sadly they don't sell the Mustang 350 or R in the UK. Means I'll probably look towards AMG.

As mentioned, I think Rory is trying too hard. He needs to chill a bit.

Which is just stupid, last night I was looking for the Top Gear thread to discuss it, I had no idea the discussion for the new season would be in the old thread.

Mods have many odd ideas here. Like putting 1000's of different but similar posts in one place so they are impossible to find.
No idea why more threads is a problem and the ability to follow one particular train of thought would be much simpler.
AND why does Rory say 'I'll never be readier' all the time he is so stupid!
Andi.

Well the new MY18 brings you closer if you select mag ride you get most of the GT 350 underpinnings and the new 18's sound incredible out the door also due to new active exhaust. Can pickup a brand new MY18 with mag ride from coast2coast for 39k, bargain for a brand new V8, RWD, manual RHD car. :)

I quite enjoyed it, although I think they spoilt the Ken Block bit. That could have been a lot of fun if it wasn't two of the cars caught due to roadblocks...

"You know what Block rhymes with?"

It looked tiny compared to the Mustang and Jag which was surprising

They also look tiny on the road and parked up too. Used to park next to one at my gym, looked tiny in comparison. It is because they have such a low profile, width wise they are pretty much just as wide but have a super low profile. Some people really struggle to get in and out of them due to the tub design, but like getting in and out of a Lotus. :D

I didn't know, but then we don't have a TV ariel, or watch 'live broadcast' TV...

Personally, I much prefer him over the other two.
Me too, I didn't like him at first but he's grown into it. Chris is excellent and has totally developed into the co-starring role he doesn't come across as awkward & rigid as he did.

I can get away with Chris and Matt, Rory I'm struggling with.

It's probs the scripts he has, but the stuff he comes out with just annoy me.

Celeb bits are ultra boring on both top gear and TGT.

That McLaren though! They are nailing it with "most" of their cars at the moment.

I'm more into these shows for the cars than the presenters these days, the formula is old and unoriginal now and I think it's had it's day for both GT and TG.

So I have to say, 15 mins into TG and the production value plus the cars is already much much better than GT for me. The sights and sounds of cars being thrown around is what I love and this is just doing more for me.

I caught the tail end of episode one on the telly last night, it's made me go watch the rest of the series. It was better than I expected. Last season with that ginger guy was awful, back to being watchable now.

I liked the McLaren, find Rory annoying would be happier if it was just Chris and Matt

Agree here, they have a good chemistry. Where as Rory seems to just be there because they feel like it has to be three of them.
