The "Top Gear", Season 24/25/26 thread

chris can drive but has the most annoying manerisms and facial expressions.the series is better now. demon is pretty nice the engines are £15,000 new arent they which is pretty sweet deal if you think about it.

Rory isn't doing anything at all for me, he tries too hard and doesn't really know much, seems to have an ego on him too - I think they just keep him to try to relate to the kids maybe?

Didn't care much for this episode other than the 2cv part. Chris and joey work well together on their "adventures", studio scripts are terrible though and border on cringe.

Still liking the series a lot though and don't mind SIARFC - Dara and Ed are always a good watch.

I really think TG is finding its feet, and I sort of wish they'd include Rory a bit more in the videos where they're doing things together. I bet he's feeling kinda left out to be honest!

Me too. The best bits come when they include all three.

Second time I've thought that about the Stinger - it isn't an unattractive car but then you hear the price and its like you what? without like a Merc badge on it it needs to be £10K cheaper.

The difference with the Kia is you don't need to add £10k of options to it like a BMW or Mercedes. That makes a big difference to the real price.

You'd have to really, really want a Kia to blow 40k on this car though and not a 2-3 year old M3 or almost new S4.

The depreciation will be horrendous.

yes then you will have the badge.in one two years time when you lost all the money you sitting looking at a kia badge.while a decent audi bmw is still the same and holding money better.

what surprised me is how when he drove the hyundia he was surprised when they have been smashing rally for years so not really a surprise the new car is a cracker.

The masses don't watch Rally... remember, it's not a documentary, need to keep it broad for everyone and assume people are not petrolheads.

Like rallying has anything to do with road cars.

Extra gear wasn’t too bad either. Rory is clearly Rory rather trying to be someone else.

Whether any of this is an issue depends on how it's financed.

And in terms of comparison, as a car, comparing it to the much more expensive M3 seems slightly unfair. I think you're right that the Stinger is going to lag hard behind their German rivals in terms of sales and desirability but, on the other hand, it seems like a good entry from the brand. Kia isn't making the Stinger to sell bucketloads, it's making it to start staking out territory.

Stinger is more of a 420i-440i Gran Coupe rival, rather than an M rival. :)

Certainly absolutely packed with kit for the money – and you get that seven-year warranty...

The 2cv was not original though, wasn't that on fifth or top gear, they did something with not spilling beer or water too.

Is Sabine out of it now, and for that matter has the BBC found no femail presenter eg VBH or Jodie Kidd (her with Quentin Wilson wasn't bad)

edito lol complete steal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcPVnG-cuJs

It was done much earlier than that, with James May of all people! They even drove it through a field, with eggs!

As someone who used to own a 2CV I loved that section. Those things are terrible cars, but at the same time they're awesome. Mine was an absolute monster compared to Chris Harris' though, it was a '72 with a massive 435cc pushing out a whopping 25hp.

25/03 ... only 3s faster and Rory wasn't in the car ?

He had spent entire day learning the circuit, then a couple of hours with Sabine to perfect braking, turn in, apex, power etc. Once you know all this and the circuit and car well anyone can go fast but he was probably at his limits.
She went out and did a lap, 3s faster immediately, to you 3s may not sound much but in the racing world 3s a lap is an eternity and look at it like this she can do that consistently every lap without error, he achieved it on one lap. Reality is he'd not be consistent and as such she'd be lapping him every 30 laps or less.

Also remember the TG crew are all talented drivers, they are not your average driver but all particular well skilled, Rory included, though of course Harris is a driving god.

The Camaro was manual, right? Hence the stalling, and pretty sure there were shots of him using a clutch. So why did it have paddles on the steering wheel?
