The Touchpad Android thread

Lent my TP to my mother recently and just got this email:

"Any idea why it won't shut down when charging? With display, input barely exceeds output and so takes 12+ hrs to charge. If do a "power off" shutdown, it comes back on and reboots, the start-up including a message about excessive overclocking."

Any ideas? I will suggest reverting it back to 1.2Ghz but it charged fine with me.

I found with mine that it would turn on when plugged in to charge for some reason, however if I then turned it off while still plugged in to charge it would stay off.

on the charging, I think the offical charger is 1.4 or 1.2amps, and a normal usb charge is something like .5amps ? so could be that. i think u can buy generic high amp chargers if you cant find a hp one

The official HP TouchPad charger is rated at 2 amps, generic USB chargers would usually comply with USB 2.0 specifications and only supply 1 amp.

Just literally done this. Was wondering if it would be worth it.. No more web os for me!

Main reason I have is to use it for a fancy remote for my Htpc, was watching live tv from it via windows mce earlier

Works well! Just need a decent app that effectively just turns the pad into a big trackpad, splashtop works well for remote desktop

Looks really different to my ics on phone

So, are any of you planing to move back to WebOS when Open WebOS comes out? There's a group online over here who said they'll work to port it to the Touchpad and Pre 3, I've already emailed them to volunteer to help.

Most definitely not! Can't believe how good ics is on it
For first time since the first few weeks I had I I haven't touched it until now.

yes i have ics also splashtop, thats about it

All I do is turn the pc on, and boot mce, i have splashtop set to the Touchpad resolution if I don't have the tv on, mce then fills the screen, not maximised tho. And then just use the touchpad in finger tracking pad mode (dunno the proper name).

Theoretically I could watch tv anywhere in the world of the Htpc is on and the bandwidth is high enough. Actually might try that at work on Wednesday
