The Touchpad Android thread

music, personally I use the google music beta so got the 4.01 apk (the leaked ICS one) and using that,

films, streaming is the future, set up a upnp/dlna server on the pc/nas (wmp just about does it on windows, mediatomb seems very nice for linux) then get bubbleupnp, mx player and/or mobo player for the touchpad as video players (those will obviously also work with video's on the device).

At the minute I have to use software decoding in both of those players, so it can handle normal vids but not so much the 'hd' ones (I generally get/use 720p mkv's ~1.6-2Gb per 45-50 minutes).

Is there no sort of built in task killer in Cyanogen Mod? I can't seem to find a way to see a list of running apps and an option to kill them.

Also has anyone used any emulators on this (Snes, Megadrive etc) and can comment on speed?

Can't seem to find one myself, so I just got one from the market.

Had N64oid running on it, ran pretty much perfectly (although I did OC it to 1.8), haven't tried much else though.

There's the stock android one, Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Running,

But there's generally no need to do so, android manages that automagically :p

I'm an Android guy, but I really miss webOS.

I loved the multitasking/swiping and all that. And the keyboard, one of the best touchscreen keyboards I've ever used.

The only major bug I've noticed on Android is the Wifi connection timing out at my university. I can connect (then turning on the proxy through ProxyDroid) then load one or two webpages before the connection is closed. I have to turn off and on wifi before it will connect again. Once it connects there's the same issue. It's been noted on the issue list though. Silly PEAP MSCHAPv2 connection <_<

The webos keyboard is nice, except for some auto-capitilisation issues, but it's only really good when the tablet is on a surface and you're using the whole thing like a proper keyboard, holding the tablet and trying to type is awkward.

And that's where the thumb keyboard on android is so awesome, I like it enough on my sgs2 let alone on a device the size of the touchpad :p

I think I can type much faster with Swiftkey Tablet X when holding the device than I would ever be able to with the webos keyboard.

And just the fact that I can actually move the cursor around and position it properly is enough to instantly make typing a better experience on Android for me.
